UN invents new stick to beat us with

I have very little sympathy for organisations who go around inventing new sticks that other people can use to beat other people with in court. Defamation law can be used to have a “chilling effect” on Media and wealthy people can get media to withdraw factual articles and even apologise simply because they cannot afford the court battle. Copyright law in the wrong hands can even be used as a stick to beat a Media outlet with. Freedom of speech activist Pamela Geller narrowly avoided being sued by a group of Muslim men for wearing a bikini!

Imagine being sued because your article used a word or a design or a quote that someone else has decided belongs to another culture. Imagine being dragged into the court system and accused of cultural appropriation. Thanks to the UN people may end up vulnerable to being accused of cultural appropriation for an infinite range of things and may be dragged through the court system for these newly created sins.
