Media company protects its staff from flamboyant gay man with the wrong opinions

Imagine a Media organisation that has interviewed dictators and dangerous gang members but that draws the line at its studio being used to interview a flamboyant gay man with the wrong opinions. This is truly what our world is coming to. Conservative views are now seen as dangerous and diversity of opinion is no longer valued. A person who refuses to use politically correct language is now considered a threat to seasoned journalists. Perhaps as I type the media organisation are turning one of their interviewing rooms into a safe space.

CNN has interviewed former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. It has also interviewed dictators Robert Mugabe and Bashar al Assad. Incredibly this week it banned Andrew Bolt from hiring its Washington studio to talk to Milo Yiannopoulos out of concern for their staff.  Andrew Bolt in the interview that he managed to do at another studio asked Milo why he was even worse than Mugabe. During the interview in his typical humorous style, Milo said that he thought that it was wonderful that CNN considered him a threat to their building’s security.

The interview is below: 06:24 – Skip Intro to Interview. 22:05 – Milos’s views on the gay marriage Australia vote

I haven’t written about Milo for a while but the ongoing attempts to silence him and to shut him down have been extreme. The most common tactic used on him over and over and over again is contemptible. At least CNN was upfront about their refusal to host Milo’s interview. Time and time again Milo has organised an event or a speech and his booking and his money have been taken only to have the organisation at the very last minute cancel his reservation or booking in order to maximise the damage and disruption to his event. They always seem to claim that they were unaware of his dangerous opinions when they took the booking and that due to pushback from social justice bullies they can no longer go ahead.

What is happening to Milo in the real world mirrors what is happening to conservatives online with their videos and their channels being demonetised and their social media accounts shut down. People with the wrong opinions have been told by organisations like Paypal that they will no longer collect their followers’ subscriptions or donations for them. Organisations like Patreon where conservative content providers have fled after their revenue was decimated by Youtube have also refused service to people with the wrong opinions.

There seems to be one law for the real world and one for the online world. Christian bakers who refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding are castigated and told that the customer is always right and they are not allowed to refuse service but giants like Google, Twitter, Facebook, Paypal, Patreon and Youtube are free to deny service and income for any reason they like.

If media like CNN are going to limit who they will interview based on who their staff feel “safe” around we are only going to end up with one side of the story.
