Media party have a lot to answer for

You’d think that the Media party would have learned from last election and from Hillary Clinton’s bombing in the election.

Katie Bradford famously said on camera at the last election “no matter what we talk about, no matter what we do, the polls don’t seem to be shifting at all”.

And so it has transpired again where the Media party went all in for Jacinda Ardern and Labour, and they’ve come a distant second as a result.

I believe that voters are heartily sick of media interfering in elections. They seem to only report wishful thinking rather than facts.

When reporting on polls I was careful to look at trends and  Peter Ellis’ statistical model. I always reported possibilities, never certainties.

Colmar Brunton has almost become as unreliable as Roy Morgan. Reid Research has done very well. Those were the polling companies. Where that all falls down though is the reportage of the poll results.

Patrick Gower is a disgrace, always looking at things in a binary fashion.

The worst media outlet though is Newsroom. They went all in for Labour, with constant attack jobs on National and their exceptionally dodgy polling. This is what those muppets said this week ahead of the election:

Labour is well ahead of National — particularly among women and those aged under 55 — in a new online poll conducted for Newsroom by international survey firm SSI.

The poll of 550 voting age people nationwide between Monday and Wednesday this week, had Labour on 45 percent to National’s 30 percent, for those who made a choice in answer to the question: “If an election was held today which party would you give your party vote to?” New Zealand First was 11, the Greens 6, TOP and the Māori Party 2, with Act on 1.

That is a disgrace. Mark Jennings and Tim Murphy will be hoping that Selwyn Pellett doesn’t call them in for their pathetic efforts. He should. They are a disgrace. How two failed old tuskers thought they could compete without massive corporate wallets to raid and by doing the same old shit is beyond me. Pellett is a competent businessman, he will be looking at their numbers and wondering why he is pouring millions into that failure.

Horizon polling is a joke too. Anyone who publishes stories based off those charlatans is likewise a charlatan.

The voters know bullshit when they see it and they know the Media party is full of crap.

No wonder people don’t trust media any longer. Hookers and car dealers have better reputations.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
