Face of the Day

Oh my goodness.  Poor James.  After a week of staunch denial and saying he would not work with National because that would mean he was a liar for saying he wanted to change the government, the pressure on him is finally too much.   He’s in the middle of eating some juicy rats.

Green Party leader James Shaw is keeping the door ajar for a potential coalition deal with National.

Speaking to RadioLIVE’s Rural Exchange show on Saturday morning, Mr Shaw said it would be “only polite” to see what National has to offer.

“I have said that I will hear the Prime Minister out if he wants to make his case,” said Mr Shaw, who was widely considered a more business-friendly face for the Greens than his predecessor Russel Norman, when he took over in 2015.

“I’m keen for the Greens to have a chance at Government, because we’ve never really had that full opportunity before.”

It’s taken almost a week for the political novice to come to grips with the idea that the post-election MMP process requires different rhetoric.

The pressure from within the Green party to take the chance of governing and keeping Winston out as being a “change of government” has had James put aside his deep hatred of all things National.

Pity we don’t believe a word he says.
