Simply wanting to buy a gun clearly makes you a Vegas-style mass murderer

An auction including military-style weapons at a Wellington school is only open to buyers with strictly vetted collectors’ licences, gun owners say.

St Patricks College in Kilbirnie is due to host the two-day auction this weekend, which includes military-grade weapons as well as uniforms, cameras, helmets and models.

The school said the hall had been hired out for the privately-run militaria auction for the past 25 years, without incident or outcry from parents or students.

Michael Dowling, spokesperson for the Council of Licensed Firearm Owners, said of the 1800 lots at the auction, about 10 were restricted firearms.

It was possible to collect restricted arms such as machine guns, but it required a firearms licence and an additional endorsement with support from referees, Mr Dowling said.

Such guns were used by collectors or for theatrical purposes, and were converted to only fire blanks, he said.

I’m not at all happy that New Zealand lefties have picked up on the American cancer running through their society by protesting everything that’s not nailed down.  First it was Brian Tamaki for attributing natural disasters to gay people, and now it’s guns simply because out of the millions of law abiding gun owners one went troppo.  And it didn’t even happen in this country.

The problem isn’t that there are protests.  Free speech must be protected at all cost.  The problem is that this is leading to physical violence.   It’s now got to the point where people who want to speak freely or do things that are legal in a free society can’t do so without being harassed under the guise of Free Speech rights, but really it is through violence and intimidation.

There is a solution to this, but I really don’t think our Police care enough about free speech to waste thousands of hours of time standing between a legally operating event and a bunch of violence-inducing leftards.  They will if they are forced to, and they’ll “arrest” people, but in the end, it’s just a revolving door and the same rent-a-crowd agitators will be back again.
