Who’s doing the bullying here?

Guest Post:

“New Zealand will not be bullied into changing its policy towards Jerusalem’s status”, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says.

Her remarks followed threats from US President Donald Trump to cut off funding to countries that supported a UN resolution criticising his decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly passed a measure rejecting the decision, which was repeatedly criticised as undermining the prospects for peace. More than 100 countries voted against the US.”

Well, this is rich, for Jacinda to cry “bully” when this is exactly how she and the rest of the UN who voted against the US are acting.

It’s so common, but totally transparent, for the bully to claim they are the victim.  Unfortunately for them, it’s not convincing when the facts say otherwise.

Palestinian leaders are so good at bullying they’ve convinced their own people that they are the victims in their fight against Israel despite evidence that they are the aggressors in this war.

The US has attempted, more than any other nation, to facilitate peace negotiations in the Middle East.  The Palestinians have undermined these negotiations so many times that current accusations against the US fall on deaf ears, Jacinda.

Did you learn nothing from your failure to bully the Aussies into releasing Manus Island illegals?

You should also know that bullying is only sustainable when you are in a position of power, which is why it won’t work against Trump.

Trump holds the best cards in this game and my money is that he will cut back their substantial funding of the UN.

The UN should have seen this coming, but being blinded by their own self-importance and totally dismissive of Trump’s effectiveness, they did not.

It is no idle threat of the US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, that they are keeping tab of the countries who voted against them.  Oops.

Australia had the good sense to keep its head down and abstain from the vote.

We, on the other hand, are fast losing friends and allies as we pursue a path devoid of common sense.
