Border checkpoints that fail to detect the most dangerous enemy of them all

Some 158 people were injured in the powerful blast

The most dangerous enemy of all is one with no moral compass. An enemy like that will target civilians and will hide behind women and children. An enemy like that will fire rockets at you from inside a mosque, a school and from inside the HQ of a charity. An enemy like that will use an ambulance, the very symbol of hope and help for all as a weapon.

The US has condemned a “horrific attack” in which a bomb hidden in an ambulance killed at least 95 people in Kabul.

The bomber drove the ambulance packed with explosives in a crowded area near the Afghan capital’s old interior ministry building in the early afternoon.

Another 158 people were wounded in the attack, some critically.

[…] US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the Taliban’s use of an ambulance as a weapon “represents inhumane disregard for the people of Afghanistan and all those working to bring peace to the country, and is a violation of the most basic international norms.”

Islamic terrorists simply do not play by the same rulebook as soldiers in the West. We take for granted the written and unwritten rules of war but Islamic terrorists are the most dangerous enemies of all because their fanaticism which is fueled by the hateful prescriptive words in the Koran allows them to treat their own lives as cheaply as they treat the lives of their enemies.

We cannot expect them to respect the lives of innocent children because they do not hesitate to use their own children as suicide bombers. They do not play by our rules and as the attack in Kabul has shown border checks are inadequate. Even in Afghanistan where they are no doubt on high alert terrorists are still getting through yet we are expected to have faith in the UN’s checks of Muslim refugees that they are sending to New Zealand. The only way to protect us is to not take any at all. It is not as if there is a shortage of people with similar cultures and value systems to our own who need help.

Why are our governments so hell-bent on bringing in people who are least likely to assimilate, least likely to share our values and MOST likely to have a terrorist or two amongst them? Even worse, the children of Muslim migrants and refugees are even more likely to pose a threat to our societies as terror attacks over the past few years in the West have graphically illustrated.

[…] The bomber used the ambulance to pass through one checkpoint, saying he was taking a patient to a nearby hospital, the interior ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said.

When he reached the second checkpoint, he blew up the vehicle.

Medical professionals were struggling to handle the number of casualties caused by the attack, with many hospitals unable to handle the numbers and laying the wounded in hospital gardens with their intravenous drips.

It’s a massacre,” said Dejan Panic, the coordinator in Afghanistan for the Italian aid group Emergency, which operates a trauma hospital that had treated dozens of wounded.

The ambulance car-bomb is the worst terrorist attack to hit Kabul since a truck filled with explosives was detonated near the German embassy last May, killing 150 people.

Following that attack, security was tightened around potential targets in the city, much of which is now heavily fortified with high concrete blast walls and police checkpoints.

When a politician supports open borders they are supporting their countries suicide. How many terrorists before the ambulance bomber did the border check stop before he managed to make it through? With open borders how many massacres do you think would have occurred?

The level of security has prompted anger at how the bomber managed to pass through the checkpoints.

“Officials must be held responsible,” said former deputy interior minister Mohammad Ayub Salangi.
