Hands on the wheel

I wonder if anyone else feels disturbed by the fact that H1 and H2 have their hands firmly on the ‘steering wheel’ with our new, novice Prime Minister and all of them dedicated socialists?

Oh, and Cullen is in there too, stirring the taxation pot. With their socialist ‘let’s control everything’ outlook they seem to not be able to see the flow-on effect of several of their policies.

Already we are seeing the downside of their demonising of ‘fat cat’ landlords who have been selling their properties and creating a severe shortage of rental properties?  Wow, who would have seen that coming?

Wellington is bearing the brunt of fierce demand for rentals, and there is no relief on the horizon.

Head of Trade Me Property Nigel Jeffries  said the demand in Wellington was “massive”, with the number of available rentals dropping 70 per cent on December 2016.

January “is likely to be even more extreme”, he said.

You do not have to be a rocket scientist to work out that lifting the minimum wage will have a flow-on effect also.  Those who were on what is now the new minimum wage level will be looking for an increase in order to maintain the differential and so on up the chain. As a result, businesses will cut back on staff or the cost of services will increase. Take your pick.

Paying for the first year at university will be an appalling waste of money as many will take advantage then drop out.  Would it not be better to use the money as a reward for hard work and pay for the final year?

How many of us want a return to the union influence that we are seeing with the charter school upset?  How many of us want to pay an extra 10c per litre on our petrol in Auckland?

The list goes on  … and on!
