Beached as Bro: Waitangi day, low tide and a boat

Boat beached at Arkles Bay Waitangi day 2018-PHOTO Whaleoil

Arkles Bay beach is a shallow beach but many boaties are unaware of this fact and anchor their boats too close to shore. There are helpful buoy markers out where it is nice and deep but there are always one or two boating newbies who think “She’ll be right.”

The family that owns this lovely big boat went away leaving their boat in what they thought was nice deep water on Waitangi day and returned a couple of hours later to find it beached as bro.

As we had dinner outside we took a photo of the lonely boat, abandoned until high tide.

We never get bored at the beach. We have watched cars get their boots full of water and 4 wheeled drive utes get dragged into the water by the boat on their trailer. Cam has even done a couple of rescues using his trusty ISUZU D Max.
