Here comes the new co-leader; she’s just like the old co-leader

The Greens seem on track to replace METU with MADA. The acronym may have slightly changed but everything else remains the same.

Metiria Turea is Maori.

Marama Davidson is Maori.

When you run a “Progressive” party some ethnicities are more diverse than others. MADA gets a 10 out of 10 for being Tangata Whenua.

Metiria Turea is an activist.

Metiria Turea shared personal stories to highlight social justice issues.

Marama Davidson is sharing personal stories to highlight social justice issues.

[…] At times Ms Davidson has shared very personal stories to highlight the social issues she advocates for. In 2014, she shared her story of abortion, calling for the public to “demand that any government will decriminalise abortion.”

Metiria Turea proudly admitted to stealing from the NZ taxpayer.

Marama Davidson proudly admitted that she admires METU for standing up to those who condemned her benefit fraud.

“There is not a day that goes by that I don’t miss her unflinching courage and leadership in the face of adversity,”[…]

This country has gone to s**t”, domestic violence victim advocate Jackie Clark said.

“If you’re poor and you’re brown and you’re a woman, you’re f****d, especially if you’re in south Auckland.”

Ms Clark is supporting Ms Davidson’s campaign because of her focus on injustice, homelessness, domestic violence and under-resourcing in south Auckland, she said.

So not because of any Green issues then like the environment or conservation? The Green party seem to have become the social justice party, which is an opportunity for National in the future to steal all the environmentally conscious Remuera Mums away from the Greens. The Greens are going after Labour’s voter base so National should work hard now on creating a Blue/Green set of policies.

[…] Ms Davidson said her position as a member of the coalition Government without a Ministerial portfolio will allow her to push the Government on Green issues.

It seems to me that if MADA becomes co-leader we can expect Green issues to be exclusively social justice issues. She is an activist at the core and is more interested in social justice than the environment.
