Lynda Topp, right, considers running for Parliament.

Topp Twins entertainer Lynda, who plays Camp Mother, reveals she’s considering taking her next step into politics.

The 60-year-old says that after a lifetime of protests and activism, running for Parliament was a natural path to take in an interview with New Zealand Woman’s Weekly.

“If the time comes where we have to stand up on a different platform and one of us has to go to Parliament…” she contemplated.

“Look it’s the perfect time to start thinking about that because we do have a change in government.”

She went on to add that throughout the years, her and her twin sister Jools have really been on the “right side of history”, before Jools added that they were more likely to be on the left side of history.

“In all honesty, one of the reasons why we’ve won over people’s hearts is because they’ve seen us at the nuclear movement, the homosexual law reform and Bastion Point. People went, ‘That’s my story too. I was there  – I was marching too’.”

The twins are currently back on Kiwi television screen with their new series, Topp Country, in which they  travel around New Zealand meeting food producers and home cooks, among others.[…]
