Idiotic statement of the week

Golriz Ghahraman aged attending school in Iran Source/ Facebook

Golriz Ghahraman:

Not a Muslim? Then don’t make assumptions about Islamic culture.

When Golriz Ghahraman lived in her homeland of Iran she wore a hijab as part of her school uniform. It was not a personal choice; it was a religious requirement inside a country that is currently imprisoning women who dare to take off their hijabs in public.

After the Iranian Revolution in 1979 Iran women were forced to cover their hair in public.

This is not an assumption it is a fact.

Iran before and after the revolution in 1979

Iran is a repressive religious regime that imposes Sharia law on its citizens and hangs gays from cranes for the crime of being homosexual.

That is not an assumption it is a fact.

Homosexuals Hanged in open roads of Iran for being Gay- SHARIA LAW strikes again! | The Rising Soul

The Iranian women are not forced to cover their hair because the Islamic government respects them.

The homosexuals are not executed because the Islamic government respects them.

Golriz Ghahraman either assumes that critics of Islamic culture are ignorant because they are non-Muslims or she believes that they have no right to criticise Islamic culture if they are not Muslims.

If I adapt Golly Gee’s statement to other topics its idiocy soon becomes clear:

Not a teacher? Then don’t make assumptions about education

Not a chef? Then don’t make assumptions about food

Not a white male? Then don’t make assumptions about men

Not a black woman? Then don’t make assumptions about women.

Not a child? then don’t make assumptions about children.

Not a rugby player? Then don’t make assumptions about rugby.

Not a politician? then don’t make assumptions about politics

Perhaps I shouldn’t be criticising Golriz? After all, I am not an attention seeking Green list MP so I shouldn’t be making assumptions about an attention seeking Green list MP.

And for bonus points…
