Leftist Media Gush Over Eva Braun

Dictators’ Olympic “charm offensive”, then and now.

Imagine if, in 1936, the “progressive” U.S. media had swooned over Hitler’s partner, Eva Braun, while simultaneously rubbishing Franklin D. Roosevelt and his Vice-President. Imagine that leftists gushed that the Berlin Olympics were a “coming out party” for the Nazi regime. Imagine if the crimes and belligerence of the Nazis were already indubitably acknowledged rather than a distant threat, yet the media chattered excitedly about Frau Braun “smiling prettily” and “stealing the thunder” of their own, hated President, with a “charm offensive”.

A modern version of just such a bizarre outburst of fan-worship is happening now, as Kim Yo Jong, sister of brutal dictator Kim Jong Un and already acknowledged as “Kim’s closest confidant and is a senior cadre in North Korea’s ruling party”, attends the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, in South Korea.

If “diplomatic dance” were an event at the Winter Olympics, Kim Jong Un’s younger sister would be favored to win gold.

With a smile, a handshake and a warm message in South Korea’s presidential guest book, Kim Yo Jong has struck a chord with the public just one day into the PyeongChang Games.

U.S. media such as CNN, CBS, the Daily Beast, and Bloomberg have giddily cheered on Kim

as her brother’s answer to American first daughter Ivanka Trump, Kim, 30, is not only a powerful member of Kim Jong Un’s kitchen cabinet but also a foil to the perception of North Korea as antiquated and militaristic …

“… it also is a signal that North Korea is not this crazy, weird former Cold War state — but it too has young women that are capable and are the future leadership.”

The Daily Beast swooned that

North Korea is stealing the thunder, if not the show, from the Americans at the Pyeongchang Olympics, with word that the charming younger sister of ruler Kim Jong Un is arriving Friday for an Opening Ceremony

Meanwhile U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is portrayed as a nasty party-pooper.

Kim Jong Un’s Little Sister Steals Pence’s Thunder and Trumps Trump …

As for Pence, his pugnacious words … seem distinctly out of sync with the tenor of little sister’s visit …

His menacing words … definitely seemed out of sync with the mood

Yet, while the leftist media cheer on the “brains” of a murderous Stalinist dicator, they have harsh words for “rightists”, who

have been embarrassing the government at every chance in the run-up to the Games, shouting slogans and waving South Korean and American flags

In the 1930s, the New York Times’ Walter Duranty cheered on Stalin’s genocidal regime, arguing that the murderous repression – which he actually acknowledged – was justified as “hope or promise of a subsequent raising up” the masses of the Soviet Union. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

“Which side are you on?” is the old rallying cry of the left. Yet again, the leftist media have chosen their side, and they’ll happily cheer-squad any brutal dictator who they assign to their side. Or who is at least against the other side.

Because the side is all that matters, and principles be damned.

Who is Lushington D. Brady?

Well, a pseudonym. Obviously.

But the name Lushington Dalrymple Brady has been chosen carefully. Not only for the sum of its overall mien of seedy gentility, reminiscent perhaps of a slightly disreputable gentlemen of letters, but also for its parts, each of which borrows from the name of a Vandemonian of more-or-less fame (or notoriety) who represents some admirable quality which will hopefully animate the persona of Lushington D. Brady.
