Partnership schools are State schools there is only one thing they lack

The entire reason why Charter schools have a big fat target on their back is Unions.

The Unions and the Labour government give all kinds of made up reasons why they want Charter schools closed but at the root of their antipathy is one single issue. Charter school teachers are paid above award salaries and are not members of any Teachers’ union.

That is it.

End of.

Labour and the unions will deny this self-evident truth but I will tell you why their denials are as worthless as a 1 cent coin.

Fake reason number One:

They are against Charter schools because State schools are not bulk funded and charter schools are bulk funded ergo Charter schools are not State schools.

First of all money from the government is money from the government so no matter how a school receives it the school is still funded by the government and therefore, is still a State funded school. Special Character schools are state-funded schools and the unions don’t mind them because all their teachers are members of a teacher’s union and are paid the same.

Secondly not that long ago state schools were bulk funded. They failed to manage their money well so the experiment ended but no one ever claimed that all New Zealand’s high schools were not State schools while they were being funded that way.

Fake reason number two:

They do not use registered teachers and do not follow the New Zealand curriculum.

In reality Charter schools all do use registered teachers for all academic subjects and do follow the New Zealand curriculum. They just follow it in new and innovative ways.

Fake reason number three:

Charter schools are not held accountable or to a high enough standard.

In reality Charter schools are held to a much higher standard and if things go wrong they are shut down quickly. In contrast, State schools with appalling records are allowed to limp along, failing students year after year with no real consequences.

Fake reason number four:

They are a failed experiment.

The reality is the complete opposite which is why the Ministry of Education and the government continues to suppress the Martin Jenkins report. The academic results of Vanguard Military school as published today on Whaleoil reveal just how outstanding their results can be.

When all is said and done there is only one true reason why there is a target on the backs of our Partnership schools. They demand excellence from their teachers and pay them above the award negotiated by the Teacher’s Unions. For this and this alone, they must be destroyed.
