Successful National party leaders and what they have stood for

Yesterday the National party caucus elected Simon Bridges as their twelfth leader to replace two time loser Bill English.

Caucus apparently knows what Simon Bridges stands for but the I seriously doubt the rest of the party does.

His press conference signalled some of what is to come as he waxed lyrical about his Maori whakapapa, his Westie upbringing and his progressive credentials. But that is it.

It is too early to call Simon Bridges a success but let's look at other successful National party leaders and what they stood for . . .
