Banging our heads against a brick wall

Hundreds of concerned voters, by now, have contacted their political representatives and given them reasoned, logical arguments why Labour should not be closing Charter schools. On this blog, we have published article after article showing that Labour will be hurting the very demographic they claim to care so much about.

It must feel for the writer of the below letter, and so many others like him, that they are banging their heads against a brick wall. Facts do not move Labour. Emotions do not move Labour. Labour remain deliberately deaf to the plight of the students who have spoken out in defence of their beloved schools and who have begged Labour to give other students the same opportunities that they have been given.

The Labour government continue to suppress the Martin Jenkins report that proves their so-called ‘belief’ (that has no evidence to back it up) that Partnership schools are not an effective use of public education funding is 100% false.

They continue to give the Charter schools the runaround, talking of vague deadlines in a month’s time for them to transition while failing to communicate with them and respond to their concerns.

One Charter school in his electorate continues to wait in vain for Associate Minister of Education and Deputy leader of the Labour party, Kelvin Davis, to respond to their emails.

As Kelvin Davis rushes off to work

A little school waits

As Chris Hipkins checks his watch to see if it is time for lunch

A little school waits

As Jacinda Ardern gripes about the cost of her new house

A little school waits

As we read news articles about State schools funded by the government even though they are empty

A little school waits

As the government looks at the problem of child poverty and Maori and Pasifika being failed by State schools and thinks that the problem is just too big and they can’t fix it

A little school waits

And hopes

… the government will realise that even though they can’t help everyone who needs help, they can save the students thriving and succeeding inside Charter schools.
