It’s 2018 and apartheid is alive and well in South Africa

Over the last few weeks, the Australian media have been reporting on the apartheid like abuse and persecution that white farmers have been facing in South Africa. But here in New Zealand, which is home to tens of thousands of South African immigrants who fled their country, the silence has been deafening.

New Zealand was extremely vocal and outraged over the apartheid in South Africa, this was on full display during the 1981 Springbok tour, with widespread condemnation coming from all quarters . But now we see exactly the same situation happening but reversed, with Whites now being attacked and racially discriminated against.

White farmers in South Africa have the most dangerous job in the country, and are twice as likely to be murdered than police. 156 commercial farmers are killed per 100,000 of the population, more than four times the wider murder rate of 34 per 100,000. These statistics are harrowing, but have been ignored by the mainstream media for years as it doesn’t fit with their “all white people are evil and all black people are helpless victims” narrative.

While Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her government have been busy discriminating against old white men, they are more than happy to bury their heads in the sand and pretend this is not actually happening. David Seymour recently proposed a motion condemning the South African legislation to expropriate white people’s land. But Labour and New Zealand First said they would veto. Talk about weak and gutless.

Australia has rightly taken a strong and proactive stance on this issue, with Immigration minister Peter Dutton recently declaring that Australia will come to the aid of persecuted white farmers fleeing their farms. Here is a recent quote from the minister who has been accused of racism for daring to bring this to the public’s attention

”It concerns me that people are being persecuted at the moment, that’s the reality – the number of people dying or being savagely attacked in South Africa is a reality”

The killings are reported to have been barbaric, with farm owners tortured, raped, burned alive and slaughtered in front of their families. Farm attack victims are usually restrained with shoe laces, telephone wires or electric cables, while some have had their nails pulled out, had boiling water poured over their bodies and been beaten to death with makeshift weapons.  This violence and torture can only be explained as racial hatred, and is actually encouraged with members of the government using the chant ” Kill the Farmer, Kill the Boer” at campaign rallies. Can you imagine if the races were reversed and it was the whites treating the blacks in this horrific way. It would be leading the news coverage for weeks.

It is about time New Zealand follows in Australia’s footsteps and condemn the South African government, but I for one will not be holding my breath.
