The answer to a blogger’s prayers

There are many challenges when you are a writer on New Zealand’s largest and most popular blog but by far the worst of them all is my cup of tea or coffee getting cold as I forget to drink it while typing away furiously at the laptop.

My childhood friend when I last visited her in Wellington commented on what she called my asbestos tongue because of my ability to drink tea that she considers to be too hot to drink. There is only a very short window of opportunity to drink my drink while it is at the perfect temperature and far too often I miss that window as I write.

I tried a glass teapot with a tealight candle underneath it but once I have poured a cup I have the exact same issue as if I had poured a fresh cup after boiling the kettle so I started researching a solution.

Initially, I thought I had found the answer; a cup that heats the liquid inside automatically as it can sense the weight of the liquid inside it. It was expensive but I was prepared to pay if it worked. I read all the reviews and many said the same thing. The cup had a serious flaw. Once it was a little under half full it switched off.

Two weeks ago after having yet another sip of disgusting cold tea after I had yet again forgotten all about it as I typed away on the laptop, I went online again on the search for a solution and I found it.

Both of my purchases arrived three days ago but I my search was not yet over as I needed to shell out even more cash to purchase locally two special adapters to handle the overseas plug and power requirements.

I even got another one, especially for my coffee.

I am very happy with both my purchases as I highly value being able to drink my hot drinks at the perfect temperature for an extended period of time. Both cups come with lids to keep the heat in as well as a spoon. The pad that the cups sit on is pressure activated and both cups have a special metal bottom.

These beauties are not easy to get your hands on as I had to ship them to an address in America and then ship them from there to New Zealand. Once I added on the cost of the two transformers it was a very expensive purchase but one that I do not regret at all.

My prayers have been answered and my enjoyment of the perfect cup of tea or coffee has been extended significantly.

They do not keep them hot indefinitely but I can confirm that I can write an article, load a few, read some comments on Whaleoil and still pick up my cup and enjoy a sip at the perfect temperature.
