When thousands of underage girls were being systematically raped by Muslim “grooming gangs” in Northern England, political correctness within police and government conspired to let the vile crimes perpetuate, unpunished and often frankly abetted, for years.
Even today, leftist politicians openly scold these brutalised, tormented children to just shut their mouths about the crimes inflicted upon them: for “diversity’s” sake. As they were during the crimes of Stalin and Mao, the left are so blinded by ideology that they refuse to see the suffering of innocents laid bare before them.
Today, in Australia, a “tsunami” of hideous crimes against children has been exposed, and, once again, the left are utterly silent.
Child protection authorities are overwhelmed by the scale of neglect and under-reported sexual activity involving children in the Northern Territory, which has seen rates of sexually transmitted infections soar over the past decade and prompted one former minister to suggest the rampant abuse of minors can only be stopped by imposing a form of martial law.
Over a decade ago, the Little Children are Sacred report also uncovered staggering rates of child abuse, especially sexual abuse, in Aboriginal communities. When the Howard government responded with swift action, the left simply screamed, “racism!” The crisis was left to fester.
Between 2006 and 2016, the numbers of notified cases of childhood STIs rose by as much as 180 per cent for some diseases. Underage Aboriginal girls are now almost 60 times more likely to contract syphilis than their non-Aboriginal counterparts and 30 times more likely to contract gonorrhoea or trichomoniasis
This is simply appalling. There is, of course, only one way that children that age contract STIs. The sexual abuse of children in Aboriginal communities was brought screaming into the headlines last week, when the story of a two-year-old allegedly raped at a party in her family home was revealed. The house was, as they say, “well-known to Territory Families and NT Police”.
Aboriginal men, who often complain about being demonised, made up about two-thirds of all those charged with child sexual-assault offences over the past 10 years, according to the report.
Complaining about being “demonised”? Any group who are so regularly abusing kids should be glad that “demonising” is the least that happens to them. They can certainly bank on not being punished.
Over the past decade, 40-60 per cent of sexual assault cases ended in charges being withdrawn and only about half of those convicted received terms of imprisonment not partially or fully suspended.
There can be no excuse for any of this. None. No blaming the “gummint”, no whining about “invasion”, no pious platitudes about “culture” can possibly excuse such disgusting behaviour.
But, just as happened in Rotherham, a shameful conspiracy of silence is smothering the horror. Authorities supposedly tasked with the protection of these innocents simply turn a blind eye.
cases of severe, sexually transmitted infections were not being investigated because staff deemed heavy drinking, risky behaviour and wagging school “normal” among kids … Territory Families received more than 22,300 warnings about child maltreatment last financial year but substantiated only 23 cases of sex-related harm.
The left-wing media are also sweeping these staggering crimes under the carpet of fashionable ideology. The ABC, which, for month after month salivated over accusations of child sex abuse in Australian churches, has, to date, not run a single item on this shocking report. Even though they found time to run a puff-piece on an “Indigenous drag queen”.
The Age is likewise silent. Although they managed to report that Aborigines lead the parade at Sydney flame-fest, Mardi Gras, this year. The Guardian at least ran one piece on the rape of the toddler, but was otherwise silent about the horrific scale of child sex abuse in Aboriginal communities.
Like Rotherham, the horror of a predatory community abusing children on an industrial scale is appalling enough. Deliberately covering up such a tidal wave of vileness, out of nothing more than pure, blind ideology, is quite another.
There can be no excuses. Not for raping children, nor for covering it up.
