Some thoughts on leadership

A reader emails his thoughts on leadership:

Leadership

Many Whaleoil readers have served in the armed forces, they understand leadership.

They recognise a good leader, and decisive and effective action (and of course the opposite).

Unfortunately the current Government under Jacinda Ardern is a near perfect example of woeful leadership.

Under performing, (even incompetent) Ministers. (looking at you Clare), are still in the ranks.

Off the reservation Ministers (pretty much all of the coalition partners in NZ First and to a lesser degree The Greens) just a slap with a wet bus ticket and still there.

The general staff (allegedly) not informing the commander over possible sexual assault allegations at a Labour run youth camp,  no demotions or expulsions.

By any rational/logical reckoning an extremely weak and non-effectual leadership model displayed…would you fix bayonets and follow them over the top?

I bloody well wouldn’t.

Would you go over the top for our current leadership?

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
