Catwalk Models 2.0

*Satire

In solidarity, with the enlightened organisers of Miss America, 2.0 fashion designers around the world have come together to ensure that fashion models are no longer selected on the basis of their looks.

A spokesperson for the consortium of designers, which to date has backing from: Cocoa Chunnel, Donna Karbab, Gogo Arminarmi, Kelvin Clean, Don’cha tella Archie, Rough Laurence, Christian Door and Timid Ford, said that the concept of supermodels and catwalk models selected simply for their appearance on the catwalk was no longer appropriate in the 21st century.

The consortium is also encouraging others to get rid of the designer gown portion of their shows and instead ask the catwalk participants to wear attire that makes them feel confident and expresses their personal style. The catwalk participants will also discuss how they will advance their chosen causes, called “social impact initiatives” by the group.  It is anticipated that most will say that they want to alleviate poverty or achieve world peace.

“We’ve heard from a lot of young women who say, ‘We’d love to walk the catwalk but we don’t want to be out there in high heels and a swimsuit,’ so guess what, you don’t have to do that anymore,” the spokesperson said. “Who doesn’t want to be empowered, learn leadership skills and be able to show the world who you are as a person from the inside of your soul.”

She continued, “That’s what we’re selecting our catwalk participants on now.”

The sweeping changes to suggested by the fashion house consortium aim to help the fashion designers be more inclusive and empowering for all women. The spokesperson also said that she hopes the new concept on the catwalk will resonate more with young people.

“We are now open, inclusive and transparent and I want to inspire thousands of young people across this country to come and be catwalk participants,” she said. “We want you and we want to celebrate your accomplishments and your talents.”
