Christchurch Free speech rally: Facebook video and commentary

Smallish turnout at today’s Rally for Free Speech in Christchurch today – 46 plus the two people who organised it. It all went off very peacefully, with several people speaking informally although one guy had prepared a speech which was live-streamed by the Kiwi Values facebook page

As you can see, there was a range of people with differing political outlooks attending, but all are agreed that free speech isn’t something that’s conditional on the whim of a second-rate ex-Labour MP and third-rate current mayor.

Those attending ranged from those whose views we may not necessarily agree with to regular Whaleoil commenters and a few lurkers. There were even a few folk who hadn’t heard of Whaleoil if you can believe that!

Old and irascible for as long as he can remember, his CV includes a brief stint in the Royal Air Force and 40+ years as a registered nurse in the UK and NZ (including more than seven years of medico-legal work.) 30+ years back-country fly-fishing in the South Island have helped him retain a modicum of sanity. For some of the time, at least.
