Born today in1946, Alan “Bam” King, songwriter, singer and guitarist with The Action, Mighty Baby and Ace.

Born today in 1949, Kerry Livgren, songwriter and guitarist with Kansas.

Born today in 1952, Dee Dee Ramone (Douglas Colvin), songwriter and bass with the Ramones.

Died today in 1970, singer, songwriter and guitarist Jimi Hendrix, aged 27.

Today in 1971, The Who went to number 1 on the UK album chart with “Who’s Next”.

Today in 1976, Boston released “More Than A Feeling.”

Today in 1993, Meat Loaf went to number 1 on the UK album chart with “Bat Out Of Hell II”.

Died today in 1997, blues singer Jimmy Witherspoon of cancer aged 77. Along with solo work he recorded/preformed with many acts including Eric Burdon.
