Born today in 1958, Joan Jett (Joan Marie Larkin) singer, songwriter and guitarist with The Runaways and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Today in 1964, Herman’s Hermits went to number 1 on the UK singles chart with “I’m Into Something Good”.

Today in 1966, The Lovin’ Spoonful were awarded a Gold record for “Summer in the City”.

Today in 1969, The Band released their second album “The Band”. .

Today in 1973, The Rolling Stones went to number 1 on the UK album chart for the 8th time with “Goats Head Soup”

Today in 1979, Gary Numan went to number 1 in the UK singles chart with “Cars”’ and he also on went to number 1 on the UK album chart with “The Pleasure Principle”.
