Born today in 1932, Albert Collins (Albert Drewery) songwriter, guitarist and singer. He was a big influence to many guitar players including Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Born today in 1934, Geoff Stephens founder of and songwriter for The New Vaudeville Band.

Born today in 1947, Rob Davis guitarist and songwriter with Mud.

Born today in 1947, Martin Turner songwriter, bass, keyboards and vocals with Wishbone Ash.

Born today in 1947, Mariska Veres (Maria Ender) lead singer with Shocking Blue.

Born today in 1948, Michael “Cub” Koda, guitarist and songwriter with Brownsville Station.

Born today in 1956, Andy Walton drummer with Kenny.

Today in 1975, Al Jackson Jr. drummer with Booker T. And The MGs was shot and killed by a burglar at his home.

Today in 1988, Bon Jovi went to number 1 for the first time in the UK album chart with “New Jersey”.

Today in 1994, Eric Clapton went to number 1 on the US album chart with “The Cradle”.

Died today in 2004, Bruce Palmer bass with Buffalo Springfield of a heart attack aged 58.
