Founded today in 1902, The Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Manufacturing Company. Gibson users include Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Peter Frampton, Billy Gibbons, Peter Green, Tony Iommi, B. B. King, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Slash, Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young.


Born today in 1945, Alan Cartwright bass (72-76) with Procol Harum.

Born today in 1954, David Lee Roth songwriter and singer with Van Halen and solo.

Born today in 1959, Kirsty MacColl singer and songwriter.

Today in 1969, King Crimson released their debut album “In the Court of the Crimson King”. (note: track is not the album version)

Toady in 1970, Black Sabbath went to number 1 on the UK album charts with their second album “Paranoid”.

Today in 1970, Neil Diamond went to number 1 on the US singles chart with “Cracklin’ Rosie”.

Today in 1975,  Deep Purple released their tenth album “Come Taste the Band”.

Today in 1981, The Police went to number 1 on the UK album chart with “Ghost In The Machine”

Today in 1987, Whitesnake went to number 1 on the US singles chart with “Here I Go Again”.
