Wellington: so proud

Credit: WCC

Wellington has rolled out a rainbow pedestrian crossing to demonstrate the city’s commitment to diversity.  Ugh, I think we need a swear jar, and charge a dollar for every time the horrible virtue signalling word is used.  Quote:

It’s not often people take too much pride in watching paint dry.  End of quote.

Except if you are from Wellington it seems.  Oh, the shame.  Quote:

But under a sunny sky on Saturday, Wellington Mayor Justin Lester helped contractors create a permanent rainbow pedestrian crossing on the corner of Cuba and Dixon streets in the central city.  End of quote.

Hmmmm maybe not so permanent.  It has required repairs already, less than a week after this story was big news.  Quote:

“Everyone’s welcome in Wellington,” Lester said.  End of quote.

There’s nothing that says welcome like a rainbow pedestrian crossing.  Because … quote:

It demonstrates the city’s commitment to diversity, he said, and is a bright sign that Wellington’s inclusive of people regardless of their gender, sexual preference or age.  End of quote.

All for the bargain price of $22,500.  Ah well, perhaps we can use the proceeds of the swear jar to pay for it.
