Hadith for the day

Surely “invented” information whether good or not is questionable at best?  Telling a caterwauling shrieker that they have the voice of an opera singer, may well be saying a good thing but it is still a lie.

Taqiyya – Saying something that isn’t true as it relates to the Muslim identity.  This is a Shiite term: the Sunni counterpart is Muda’rat.

Kitman – Lying by omission. An example would be when Muslim apologists quote only a fragment of a verse.

Tawriya – Intentionally creating a false impression.
