Born today in 1959, Richard Grossman bassist with several groups including Divinals.

Today in 1960, Elvis Presley went to number 1 on the US singles chart with  “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”.

Today in 1966, “I’m A Believer” by The Monkees was certified gold.

Today in 1970, Dave Edmunds was number 1 on the UK singles chart with his version of “I Hear You Knocking”.

Died today in 1993, Jerry Edmonton drummer with Steppenwolf in a car crash aged 47.

Died today in 2005, Tony Meehan, drummer with The Shadows from head injuries sustained in a fall, aged 62.

Died today in 2016, Ray Columbus, singer and songwriter with Ray Columbus and the Invaders, aged 74.
