Born today in 1954, Mario Cipollina bassist with Huey Lewis and the News.

Today n 1967, The Moody Blues released  “Nights In White Satin”.

Today in 1973, Elton John went to number 1 on the US album chart with “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”.

Today in 1975, David Bowie went to number 1 on the UK singles chart with “Space Oddity”.

Today in 1975, The SS Edmund Fitzgerald sunk suddenly in Lake Superior during a storm, inspiring Gordon Lightfoot to write a song about the tragedy “Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Today n 1979, Eagles went to number 1 in the US with “Heartache Tonight” (co-written with Bob Seger).

Today in 1979, Fleetwood Mac went to number 1 in the UK album chart with “Tusk”.
