Today in 1974, John Lennon went to number 1 in the US singles charts with “Whatever Gets You Through The Night”.

Today in 1985, Starship went to number 1 on the US singles chart with “We Built This City”.

Died today in 1994, Chester “Chet” Powers (aka Dino Valenti) songwriter, singer, and guitarist with Quicksilver Messenger Service, aged 51.

Today in 1996, The Beatles went to number 1 in the UK album chart with “Anthology 3”.
