Cry baby of the week goes to the mother of Abcde

This week’s winner of the crybaby of the week award goes to the Texan mum who thought it was a good idea to call her daughter Abcde.  No, the cat didn’t just run across my keyboard, that really is the poor child’s name.  A Newspaper reports:  Quote.

A Texas mother is calling out a Southwest Airlines employee who she said mocked her 5-year-old daughter’s name and posted a picture of the child’s boarding pass on social media.

Traci Redford told ABC affiliate KABC her daughter’s name is Abcde, pronounced “ab-si-dee.”  End of quote.

That’s bordering on child abuse. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the name Abcde has never featured in the list of the 1,000 most popular names.   Quote.

The incident occurred several weeks ago when she and her daughter were preparing to board a flight from Santa Ana, California, to El Paso, Redford told the station. A gate agent at John Wayne Airport saw Abcde’s name and started pointing, laughing and talking to other employees about Redford and her child.

“So I turned around and just said, ‘Hey, I can hear you, so if I can hear you, my daughter can, too. I’d appreciate if you’d just stop,’ ” she told the station.

She added: “While I was sitting there, she took a picture of my boarding pass and chose to post it on social media, mocking my daughter. […]  End of quote.

The poor kid is going to face quizzical looks and silly questions and will be asked repeatedly to pronounce her name.  At least until she turns 18 and pops along to the local courthouse and changes it by deed poll.

Still, she can claim to be smarter than the average child, given she knew her abcde’s from birth.  Boom tsh …
