Theological Tuesday

An interview between Andrew Bolt and Mark Durie, Anglican minister and an expert on Islam, on the publication of his new book questioning the inspiration of the Qur’an, and whether Mohammed even existed.

Anglican pastor and scholar in linguistics and theology, Mark Durie, says that the origin story of the Qur’an has ‘severe problems’. According to traditional Islamic beliefs the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad in 610 AD, when he was given responsibilities to inscribe messages from God. Mr Durie says that this belief was recorded centuries after the Qur’an and that the earliest versions of the Qur’an were dated before Muhammad’s lifetime and did not mention him.
