Streamlining cock tax, Uber style app launched for hookers

The Economist reports on the launch of a new app in Germany to streamline bookings and haggling of prices with hookers.

FOR those seeking commercial sex in Berlin, Peppr, a new app, makes life easy. Type in a location and up pops a list of the nearest prostitutes, along with pictures, prices and physical particulars. Results can be filtered, and users can arrange a session for a ?5-10 ($6.50-13) booking fee. It plans to expand to more cities.

Peppr can operate openly since prostitution, and the advertising of prostitution, are both legal in Germany. But even where they are not, the internet is transforming the sex trade. Prostitutes and punters have always struggled to find each other, and to find out what they want to know before pairing off. Phone-box ?tart cards? for blonde bombshells and leggy se?oritas could only catch so many eyes. Customers knew little about the nature and quality of the services on offer. Personal recommendations, though helpful, were awkward to come by. Sex workers did not know what risks they were taking on with clients.

Now specialist websites and apps are allowing information to flow between buyer and seller, making it easier to strike mutually satisfactory deals. The sex trade is becoming easier to enter and safer to work in: prostitutes can warn each other about violent clients, and do background and health checks before taking a booking. Personal web pages allow them to advertise and arrange meetings online; their clients? feedback on review sites helps others to proceed with confidence.

Even in places such as America, where prostitution and its facilitation are illegal everywhere except Nevada, the marketing and arrangement of commercial sex is moving online. To get round the laws, web servers are placed abroad; site-owners and users hide behind pseudonyms; and prominently placed legalese frames the purpose of sites as ?entertainment? and their content as ?fiction?.

The shift online is casting light on parts of the sex industry that have long lurked in the shadows. Streetwalkers have always attracted the lion?s share of attention from policymakers and researchers because they ply their trade in public places. They are more bothersome for everyone else?and, because they are the most vulnerable, more likely to come to the attention of the police and of social or health workers. But in many rich countries they are a minority of all sex workers; just 10-20% in America, estimates Ronald Weitzer, a sociologist at George Washington University.

This could easily solve Papatoetoe’s problem with street walkers. ? Read more »

Brings new meaning to “Always blow on the pie”

A struggling Queensland brothel has hit on a way to increase business.

No it isn’t getting better slags to work in the brothel…it is instead offering a pie and coke to go with your lunchtime root.

LADIES of the night are attempting to crack the daytime market with lunchtime meal deals offering a ?pie, coke and a poke?.

An exodus of tradies to the mines has forced legal brothels to find ways of attracting new clients.

The lunch break brothel quickie fits in with a broader trend in the sex industry, with one academic revealing it is also a peak time for accessing online porn.

The midday rendezvous is also more discreet, enabling clients to duck out and still be home for the wife and kids in the evening.

One Sunshine Coast legal brothel, Scarlet Harem, is hoping to lure stressed workers away from computers and construction sites with its lunch offerings.? Read more »

When I am reincarnated I want to come back as an Aussie union boss

Craig Thomson’s trial is throwing up all sorts of delicious details of the life and times as a union boss in corrupt NSW.

Craig Thomson’s union-issued credit card was used to pay for almost $6000 of sexual services, a court has heard, and some of that spending was later classified as meetings, entertainment and teleconferencing.

The former federal MP is on trial for fraud and theft in Melbourne Magistrates Court. On Wednesday, the court heard a?police forensic accountant had examined the Health Services Union credit card statements and found that a Commonwealth Bank Mastercard issued to Mr Thomson when he was national secretary had paid for escort services totalling $5993.

According to a spreadsheet tendered to court, $2475 was paid to Keywed, the business name of Room Escort Services, in April 2005. Two months later, $418 was paid to Nolta, the business name for Tiffany’s Girls, the brothel that owns a ”red turbo spa room”. Then in August 2006, $660 was paid to Staff Call, the merchant name for Sydney brothel A Touch of Class.

The payment to Staff Call was later listed as a teleconferencing expense on the HSU’s book-keeping system, according to the spreadsheet.

Germany has become one massive brothel

While the Act candidate is wanting more “choice” for the community regarding prostitutes, the Germans are spoiled for choice as liberalisation of prostitution has turned the country into a massive brothel.

Oktoberfest may soon be renamed Root-fest.

Germany thus embarked on an experiment in liberalisation just as Sweden, a country culturally similar in many ways, was going in the opposite direction. In 1999 the Swedes had made it criminal to pay for sex (pimping was already a crime). By stigmatising not the prostitutes but the men who paid them, even putting them in jail, the Swedes hoped to come close to eliminating prostitution.? Read more »

Brothels cop subpoenas

There are going to be a lot of nervous?politicians?in Australia and the Health Services Union corruption scandal widens. Fair Work Australia has now issued subpoenas to brothels:

BROTHELS and escort agencies are among nine companies served with subpoenas seeking evidence against federal independent MP Craig Thomson.

Fair Work Australia issued the subpoenas to businesses this week, with all but two of them companies involved in the sex industry. The subpoenas demand receipts, notes, phone logs or CCTV footage dating back as far as 2003.

The industrial agency has accused Mr Thomson (below) of using his Health Services Union credit cards while he was its national secretary to pay for brothels, travel for him and his partner, and hotels.

A subpoena was sent to Qantas Holidays seeking details of a hotel booking. Another went to?Yellow Pages?publisher Sensis, asking for requests for phone numbers for brothels and escorts such as Sydney Escorts and Young Blondes.

Maybe they just want a root? Ctd

Yesterday I blogged about hookers and ?brothels and suggested that contrary to the reported study that men just wanted a root.

Of course a few of my women readers jumped in and over analysed the issue but one gave this explanation for why men visit hookers:

Which is awesome.?That?s the perfect excuse.

Imagine it…you come home after letting a bit of pressure out of the back wheels and the missus goes all “Inquisition” on you. Using Lucia’s fantastic excuse, you simply bat off the query with a nonchalant response like this:

“I was in the knock shop looking for God. He wasn?t there so tomorrow night I will have to try the one down the road where I heard he stopped in for a few beers, the free bbq and a blowie Saturday arvo.”

Interesting use of “in the public interest”

? Sydney Morning Herald

Our Police like to use the words “in the public interest” but usually in a sentence like “It is NOT in?the?public interest to?prosecute”. They usually use it when investigating political corruption by the Labour party. In?Australia?though we can see a more interesting use of the term:

THE developer hoping to build Australia’s largest brothel has told the NSW Land and Environment Court the proposal to double the existing business is ”in the public interest”.

Stiletto’s in Camperdown, owned by the big-time punter Eddie Hayson, wants to spend $12 million to expand from 19 to 40 working rooms by building a three-storey extension on an adjoining Parramatta Road block.

Commissioner Susan O’Neill began the hearing outside the Camperdown bordello yesterday, where a local resident, Stephen Chavura, said that he and his wife, Xanthi, bought a nearby unit after the City of Sydney rejected the development application last year.

”You can’t have the sort of community where you’re going to have families and young children growing up, and that [the brothel expansion],” he said.

In knocking back the application, councillors had cited concerns about its effect on the local area and size of the development. Liberal Shayne Mallard dubbed it the ”Westfield of brothels”.

Yesterday’s site inspection by the court continued inside Stiletto’s, although Peter Tomasetti, counsel for the applicants Artazan Property Group, denied the?Herald?access.

Artazan, the company managing the project, is challenging the council’s view that the expansion is not in the public interest, arguing in its submission the development would be a ”significant generator of employment” and would therefore have an ”advantageous economic effect”.

It told the court there would be a maximum 50 staff on the site at any one time, including sex workers, cleaners, administration and management staff.

”The development is in the public interest as the regulated supply of sexual services to the community meets a basic human need,” the submission read.

How to deal with the Chows

The Chows are being a pain in the arse. This is how I think we should deal with the Chows.

Len should wander down there using the purest form of environmentally friendly transport, his skinny chicken legs, and quietly whisper to the Chows that if they don?t sort themselves out there will be numerous and unscheduled delays in planning, building inspections, compliance costs, reviews etc. Capice!

That might make them a little more reasonable. An unbuilt brothel is not earning, yet probably incurs expenses so they would be in a big hurry to get it built. A partially built brothel delayed because the Auckland Council can’t be arsed sorting stuff out for them would cost even more.

While they are at it in the attitude re-adjustment maybe they might like to quell the interesting rumours flying about town about them gloating about the pending failure of their building if the deal with Penthouse didn’t go through. Very interesting rumours from people with big mouths. This is what happens when you don’t pay your hookers.

Chow Brothers being dickheads

That'll be the end of that plan then

It looks like the building that the dodgy porn merchants the Chow brothers were going to use for their new super brothel has met with an end that only God could have planned.

Their plans for the brothel have literally tumbled down.

Large cracks have appeared in an Auckland CBD building, and emergency services are at the scene amid fears the building could crumble.

The old brick Palace Hotel on Victoria Street has been evacuated after someone noticed “some cracks” in the brick work.

Police and fire services are evacuating neighbouring buildings as a precaution and have closed the surrounding block of buildings it is in.

Police inspector Chris Robinson said the hotel, opposite Sky City, “could collapse at any time”.

Police Northern Communications team leader Peter Coleman said there is a 50mm gap in the brickwork and police responded to the call at approximately 3.45pm.

Fire Northern Communications spokesperson Scott Orsmond said it was now up to council inspectors to asses the damage.

Council structural engineers are carrying out examinations on the building.

Well at least that would have saved the working girls from having to put up with bastard bosses like the Chow brothers.

But will the girls get paid

There is much fuss and bother over the proposed brothel to be established over the road from the Sky Tower.

There is certainly a great deal of NIMBY-ism going on. The simple fact is that brothels are legal and if not across the road from another den of inquity in the form of a casino then where?

Do we now need to start considering an Amsterdam style red light district?

However a check of the key players suggests that this brothel may well not be in business for long.

Sex industry magnates are to open a “massage” club directly opposite the Sky Tower and flanked by residential buildings and shops.

In a move which has stunned nearby retailers, millions of dollars have been spent to turn the Palace Hotel pub, on the corner of Victoria St West and Federal St, into a new adult venue.

Wellington brothel owners John and Michael Chow bought the run-down building for $3.3 million, saying they hope to cater for the needs of visitors, gamers from the SkyCity Casino and tourists.

I’m wondering if the John Chow is the same John Chau in this article about Naked News Korea. My sex industry sources say that he is and that he is bad news;

After barely a month of operations, Naked News?Korea?is apparently winding up and with four of its remaining presenters expressing, ?We will fight to the end against?Naked News Korea for lying to us and the nation.?

Naked News Korea presenters Choi Sun Yi, Han Min Kyung, Lee Se Yeon and Jin Jae Kyung held a press conference on 30th July, ?We became presenters for Naked News Korea despite getting criticisms from our parents, relatives and friends. The owner, John Chau seems to be acting with only his own interests in mind and had operated the business with the intent of committing fraud. All of the money has went into his own pocket.?

Naked News Korea had ceased to provide news updates last week due to internal issues which included owning the 9 presenters and other staff about 2 -3 months of wages among others. 5 of the original nine presenters have already left the company, with only four remaining behind before everything erupted. All of the staff have no clue about what?s going on and could only say that they have been cheated by John Chau. The matter has been been bought to the attention of the Labor Ministry while the police have also started investigations into fraud allegations against John Chau.

And I wonder if the John and Michael Chow are the same John and Michael Chow who are sponsoring the Wellington Saints.

Sex Industry sources I have spoken to today confirm that these two are behind the new venture.

Massage – yea right. Sure seems to be an influx coming, it will be a haven for illegal immigrants – they will take the passports like they do at Mermaids Wellington and il Bordello and create a drama – the Wellington CIB are well aware of the games they play – but guess when you pay you can play – and the council must be getting a huge back hander.

The sex industry is not happy with these two, their business methods and the way they treat the girls. As I get more information I will update this post, but ot seems that there are not a lot of happy campers. The real owners of The Establishment ?and other major brothels probably won’t like the developments either so watch this space.
