Strange coincidence?

Rotorua police are seeking public help in their hunt for two armed men who robbed the Westpac Bank branch at Ngongotaha yesterday.

Isn’t there a conference of thieves, gangsters and corrupt politicians in Rotorua at the moment?

The offender carrying the shotgun was described as a Maori or Pacific Islander, about 1.8m tall and of medium build.

The other man was described as being shorter than his co-offender.

Is there any truth to the rumour that Trevor Mallard and Charles Chauval were seen shopping at a gun shop in Rotorua just prior to this incident?

Finally! Some sensible Education policy

No, not in New Zealand but in Texas where teachers in one education district are now allowed to carry concealed firearms. Instead of students and teachers in Harrold, Texas being targets in a turkey shoot they now have the protection of teachers armed with concealed carry handguns.

Bet we never hear of a school massacre in Harrold.

Seems like the good folk in Harrold, Texas know what is what.

In a local newspaper interview, David Thweatt, the superintendent of the Harrold Independent School District, defended the decision and said keeping guns out of schools was more dangerous than having them in.

“When the federal Government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying ‘sic em’ to a dog,” Thweatt told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Exactly, well done that man in standing up to the namy-pambies.

US Supreme Court overturns D.C.'s gun ban

The US Supreme Court yesterday overturned the District of Columbia’s handgun ban as unconstitutional.
In a landmark decision that returns the gun control debate to the forefront of the presidential race, the Supreme Court on Thursday overturned the District of Columbia’s restrictive ban on handguns and declared for the first time an individual right to possess a gun.

The D.C. gun ban had prohibited residents from keeping handguns inside their homes and required legal guns like hunting rifles to be registered and kept unloaded in a locked area.
This of course now brings Obama’s gun control stance right into play for the election and the GOP has slready pounced on it. Remember last year Obama said that he “believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional.”

A lawyer he clearrly ain’t. It seems a US born citizen he ain’t either calling into question his eligibility to even stand. One thing is for sure this issue will be resolved very quickly by the blogosphere who will declare that Obama’s campaign team “fake but accurate” birth certificate if a dud.

Don't say you weren't warned

The thing I like about the provinces is the no nonsense honesty displayed by the locals. For example, this sign was proudly displayed on the front door at eye level of the local Gun Shop in Rotorua as a handy hint for possible machete weilding fools. You can’t get more helpful than that.
