David Wong-Tung

When will David, Winston, and Kelvin apologise for their smears?

Winston Peters, David Parker, Kelvin Davis and Eugenie Sage all attacked Judith Collins and her husband David Wong-Tung over kauri logs.

They were all wrong, along with a number of media outlets. The media outlets including Radio NZ have all apologised.

Now Eugenie Sage has apologised.

Apology to David Wong-Tung and Oravida

“On the 19th of June 2015, I issued a press release under the title “Govt. stuck in the mud over swamp kauri allegations.”

“I acknowledge that the press release was capable of conveying meanings that were not intended. Specifically, I did not mean to suggest that David Wong-Tung and Oravida were involved in the illegal export of swamp kauri or that they influenced the government or any member of it to turn a blind eye to any such exports.”   Read more »

Radio NZ forced to pull their head in

Radio NZ did a dreadful hit job on Oravida and David Wong-Tung over swamp kauri.

That story led Kelvin Davis and Winston Peters to lead an attack on the government in parliament.

There was however a major problem…the story was wrong. So wrong it looks like lawyers were called in.

On Tuesday, 16 June we broadcast a story (and subsequently published it on our website) about the contention of environmentalists in Northland that the Ministry for Primary Industries was failing to ensure that swamp kauri exports complied with the requirements of the Forests Act 1949.

The story referred to Oravida (and one of its directors David Wong-Tung) as a kauri wholesaler.   Read more »

Winston and Kelvin Davis need to get their facts straight

Yesterday in parliament Winston Peters and Kelvin Davis led a shameless and more to the point dead wrong attack against a local company in Northland.

They are trying to link Judith Collins into the attack and Nick Smith didn’t really help her with his hesitant responses.

Kelvin Davis : Has he discussed the issue of swamp kauri exports with Judith Collins, whose husband, David Wong-Tung, and good friend Stone Shi are directors in the chain of shell companies that owns the Ruakākā mill, the ultimate ownership of which is obscured by a lawyer’s nominee company?

Mr SPEAKER : In so far as there may be some ministerial responsibility.

Hon Dr NICK SMITH : I thought that this member was above getting involved in that sort of murk.

Kelvin Davis : I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. I did ask a question, and it was not addressed.

Mr SPEAKER : Yes, and I said that the Minister could answer it in so far as there was ministerial responsibility. There was very little connection there with ministerial responsibility. I allowed the Minister to answer it the way he did, and that is acceptable.

Rt Hon Winston Peters : Is he denying what is well known to locals in Northland: that swamp kauri is being exported illegally and that his ministry’s lax enforcement of the law is because people high up in Oravida are major donors and players in the National Party, and there are the photographs of the logs, all being exported illegally?

Mr SPEAKER : Again, I will invite the Minister to answer if he sees ministerial responsibility.

Hon Dr NICK SMITH : The law in respect of the export of indigenous forests was passed in 1993, with that member’s support. It was softened in 2004 by colleagues adjacent to him, with his support. My advice is that the law is being followed.

Rt Hon Winston Peters : I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. He cannot get up and accuse me of supporting a law when I was not a member of the Government. He did it on both occasions—1993 and 1994. We all know that. He is just telling lies.

Mr SPEAKER : Order! [Interruption] No, I do not need further help with that. That is certainly not a point of order. I will invite the Minister, if he wishes, to add further to his answer in order to complete it before we go to further supplementary questions.

Hon Dr NICK SMITH : I would invite the member to check the Hansard as to how New Zealand First voted in 1993 on the Forests Amendment Act, and, again, as to how the party voted in 2004 when the law was changed.

They are running off their mouths under the protection of parliamentary privilege.    Read more »

No evidence to support Labour’s dirty smear, Nasty party returns in force

Labour’s reputation for being the Nasty party was once again confirmed with Trevor Mallard nasty smear in parliament yesterday.

His leader has failed to back up the smear as well, taking the coward’s way out on breakfast television.

NBR reports:

cunliffe

Labour leader David Cunliffe has failed to produce any evidence to back the insinuation that Judith Collins’ family received $500,000 from Oravida.

Yesterday in Parliament, as Labour’s Grant Robertson was asking Ms Collins why she made alleged changes to her Beijing itinerary to favour Oravida over ministerial business, Trevor Mallard yelled “Half a million dollars to the family”.

Ms Collins —  whose husband David Wong-Tung is an Oravida director — objected to the comment, and Speaker David Carter ejected Mr Mallard from the debating chamber.

This morning on TV3’s Firstline, Mr Cunliffe was asked if Labour had any evidence to back the $500,000 claim.

“One of the rules of Privilege is that what’s said in the House stay in the House, so I can’t really comment on that,” the Labour leader replied.   Read more »

Dumber than a sack of hammers, Turei calls Collins a racist

Metiria Turei was on Duncan Garners show last evening and called Judith Collins a racist.

Have a listen:

Taping family funerals – without asking, a new low for David Fisher?

via the tipline

Disturbing news on Dotcom’s PR man David Fisher.

We all know how low David Fisher has previously stooped to in using unauthorised photographs, taken at a funeral, of Judith Collins and her son.

David Fisher wrote a scurrilous article about Judith Collins on Saturday. In that story he used a photograph obtained without the consent of the family, taken at David Wong-Tung’s mother’s funeral. That photo was supplied by Clinton Neville Bowerman.

At the time Fisher defended the use of the photograph and the story with numerous tweets. In one tweet he said that this was “how a real newspaper works”. That “real newspaper” though seems to have taken down the photo that they emblazoned all over their website on Saturday…perhaps they aren’t too happy with the sleazy and underhand way with which their top “investigative” reporter obtained that photo.

Now Fisher has been exchanging tweets with Trevor Mallard around the content of Mike Bush’s eulogy at the funeral of Bruce Hutton – and Mallard duly disgraced himself in a select committeeRead more »

David Fisher’s main source a real scumbag, par for the course from the NZ Herald

They probably will be even less happy when they read the news being plastered all over other news sites about Fisher’s source.

NBR yesterday broke the story that Clinton Neville Bowerman is in a spot of bother, again for photographs or video obtained in a dubious manner.

Now I am not one to defend Peter Goodfellow in other matters, everyone knows that, but in this case I think he is being subjected to quite crazy and unhinged behaviour from Bowerman.

David Fisher performs miracle, lowers Herald’s standards even further

David Fisher is really scraping the barrel today with a massive beat up using a stolen photo provided by an alleged dog-napper to write a nothing story:

Truth reports:

The NZ Herald this morning launched an attack on Justice Minister Judith Collins and her husband David Wong-Tung using a photo taken at the funeral of Wong-Tung’s mother.

The story makes allegations that Collins appointed Robert Kee to the Human Rights Commission mainly because Collins’ husband once worked in the same multi-story office building as Kee and Collins also worked on another floor below. It is also alleged that sometime in the 90s they all had drinks together at DeBrett’s bar in the hub of the legal district, where presumably many, many other lawyers also drank.

The reporter who wrote the article, David Fisher, described the article on social media platform Twitter as “how a real newspaper works”.

Oh dear…was the photographer entitled to the photos?  Read more »
