Free speech at the University of Maryland is valued at $6500

As my Dad says, ” there are more ways of choking a cat than stuffing its arse with butter.” The same applies to removing Free Speech. Blatant censorship of Free Speech is only one weapon in the Progressive/Leftist/Liberal/Academic arsenal. Why silence people openly when you can silence them in a clandestine manner? You don’t have to say that their speaker is not welcome, you just have to demand thousands of dollars more than normal in security fees knowing that your conservative/libertarian student body cannot afford to pay it.

Alabama discriminate against non-Muslim women who wear head scarves

Yvonne Allen in a photograph included in the lawsuit filed against officials in Lee County, Ala. (American Civil Liberties Union)

Now I may not like all the concessions the West give to followers of Islam but I always assumed that at least the West would be consistent. If they upheld the religious freedom of a Muslim woman to wear a Hijab at work then, of course, they would not object to a Sikh wearing a turban because fair is fair right? Wrong. In Alabama, Muslim women get preferential treatment. There is one law for non-Muslim women and another?law for Muslim women.

From the complaint in Allen v. English:

Plaintiff Yvonne Allen is a devout Christian woman who covers her hair with a headscarf as part of her religious practice. In December 2015, Ms. Allen sought to renew her driver license at the Lee County driver license office, where officials demanded that she remove her head covering to be photographed. When Ms. Allen explained her religious beliefs, the County officials responded with a remarkable claim: They admitted that there was a religious accommodation available for head coverings, but contended that it applied only to Muslims.

Big Gay Re-Education Camps? Are We Becoming Judges of Evil Thoughts

Once again another story emerges revealing that American universities are a hot bed ?of censorship and attacks on freedom of speech. ?Given that America is the country famous for its protection of free speech ?due to the ?First Amendment ?this is ?shocking stuff. ?In Britain people are being prosecuted for expressing opinions on Facebook because they might offend Muslims and now in America the land of the free students who are supposed to be encouraged to express their opinions and to be open to new ideas are being punished for having them! ?In fact the punishment handed down to this young woman can only be described as overkill. ?It is bad enough that that she should be punished for having an opinion but in a world where gang raping refugees don’t even get deported, ?the FIVE sanctions she has been given for expressing an unpopular opinion is utterly ridiculous.

In this case the University have distanced themselves from the sanctions as they were put in place by the?Student Government Association (SGA) rather? than the university itself. They did not go so far as to condemn the actions of the SGA however, as I would expect so-called supporters of free speech to do.

In their eagerness to protect Islam the left have abandoned the gay community

Sometimes in life you cannot hold two positions simultaneously, and the left in America are struggling with a situation that forces them to make an uncomfortable decision. In order to protect one group it has given victimhood status to, it must acknowledge that the ideology of another group that it has given victimhood status to is responsible for a massacre. Instead of standing up for gays and focusing on protecting them after the Orlando massacre, the left and some gay activists have chosen to close ranks around Islam and to stay in denial about the reality of the massacre.

Ironically, while gay journalist Milo Yiannopoulosis is told that there are not enough police to protect him from hundreds of actual Muslim death threats at a press conference, police are on the roofs of all the mosques in the same area to protect the Muslim community from violence that has not been threatened and will never eventuate.

The left will not hold Islam accountable in any way, shape or form for the massacre. They prefer to blame their favourite scapegoat and whipping boy, Christianity, despite all evidence to the contrary. Islam is at the top of their victimhood pyramid and there is no way that they are going to hold it accountable.

The Left’s abandonment of the gay community so infuriated one man that he came out of the closet publicly in order to attack some Liberal gay leaders and activists.

Jim Hoft of the widely read Gateway Pundit conservative news blog came out as gay following the Orlando terrorist attacks and immediately started throwing punches at prominent gay activists who he says, just don?t get it.

During a segment on Newsmax TV, Hoft called out gay leaders who blasted Donald Trump, saying he?s the only candidate speaking about radical Islamic terrorism, which calls for the death of gay individuals.

NY Times uses their First Amendment rights to demand citizens have their Second Amendment rights removed

In a bizarre front page editorial the NY Times has demanded that politicians remove the Second Amendment rights of citizens.

They have claimed that the right to keep and bear arms is “a moral outrage and national disgrace”.

All decent people feel sorrow and righteous fury about the latest slaughter of innocents, in California. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are searching for motivations, including the vital question of how the murderers might have been connected to international terrorism. That is right and proper.

But motives do not matter to the dead in California, nor did they in Colorado, Oregon, South Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut and far too many other places. The attention and anger of Americans should also be directed at the elected leaders whose job is to keep us safe but who place a higher premium on the money and political power of an industry dedicated to profiting from the unfettered spread of ever more powerful firearms.
