“Labour strategists are more confident than ever that Andrew Little can become prime minister”

More confident than ever they may be. ?But they aren’t actually confident that he will. ?Hooton writes

What my analysis overlooked is that while the [Memorandum of Understanding between Labour and Green]?did indeed act as an endorsement by Labour of the Greens, it was also an endorsement by the Greens of Labour. At least since their truce following the genetic-modification wars of the early 2000s, both Labour and the Greens have run strategies of trying to hug the other to death. Events since the MoU suggest the red team may have the stronger chokehold.

That chokehold is only getting tighter, with private polling since Labour?s elevation of 36-year-old urban liberal Jacinda Ardern to the deputy leadership indicating an immediate gain to Labour but at the expense of their Green partners rather than National.

The confidence seems to come from the fact that Labour’s strategy is to bleed the Green vote. ?And to be honest, it is the only way to get there with Winston’s NZ First. ? Read more »

Green dreams are giving way to hard economic realities

Turns out we can’t afford a Green future, and the world is waking up to the fact that Green politics are simply not … sustainable. ?And more amazingly still, more and more of the MSM are getting off the Global Warming and Green merry-go-round.

As country after country abandons, curtails or reneges on once-generous support for renewable energy, Europe is beginning to realise that its green energy strategy is dying on the vine. Green dreams are giving way to hard economic realities.

Slowly but gradually, Europe is awakening to a green energy crisis, an economic and political debacle that is entirely self-inflicted.

The mainstream media, which used to encourage the renewables push enthusiastically, is beginning to sober up too. With more and more cracks beginning to appear, many newspapers are returning to their proper role as the fourth estate, exposing the pitfalls of Europe?s green-energy gamble and opening their pages for thorough analysis and debate. Today, European media is full of news and commentary about the problems of an ill-conceived strategy that is becoming increasingly shaky and divisive.

A study by British public relations consultancy CCGroup analysed 138 articles about renewables published during July last year in the five most widely circulated British national newspapers: The Sun, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror, which enjoy a combined daily circulation of about 6.5 million.

?The analysis revealed a number of trends in the reporting of renewable energy news,? the study found. ?First and foremost, the temperature of the media?s sentiment toward the renewables industry is cold. More than 51 per cent of the 138 articles analysed were either negative or very negative toward the industry.?

More than 80 per cent of the articles appeared in broadsheet titles The Times, The Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail, the report says, ?but 55 per cent of these articles were either negative or very negative about the industry?.

I suspect our MSM will take some time to follow the trend, as they are so heavily invested in anything that can take Teflon John down a few pegs. ?And they wouldn’t altogether be unhappy to be reporting on a Green-led coalition government either.

It’s like waking up the morning after a great party, and it’s time to clean up and go to work. ?Reality has come knocking on the door of Green pipe dreams.

Wendyl Nissen's Green Goddess status under threat

Yesterday I destroyed the presumptuousness of Wendyl Nissen’s “Green Goddess” tag. Today I will go further and suggest that perhaps she should be driving a Hummer instead of a Toyota Prius if she is serious about claiming her car is “green” and she doesn’t like “nasty chemicals”.

and then there is this Australian view of the “green” Prius.

When will car manufacturers start advertising and sponsoring more?muscular?cars and commentators, having them drive manly cars/trucks?

I bet my audience slays Wendyl’s any day of the week. So if you want to look like a goober, lose money, and yet feel “good” about being “Green” then follow the banal touting of Wendyl Nissen.

Oh and about those nasty chemicals she won’t have in her garage? ?She forgot to mention the 45 litres of petrol sitting in the fuel tank.

The?material safety data sheet for unleaded gasoline shows at least fifteen hazardous chemicals occurring in various amounts, including?benzene (up to 5% by volume),?toluene (up to 35% by volume),?naphthalene (up to 1% by volume),?trimethylbenzene (up to 7% by volume),?Methyl?tert-butyl ether (MTBE) (up to 18% by volume, in some states) and about ten others.

The?ExxonMobil MSDS for unleaded petrol in New Zealand shows the following “nasty chemicals” that most demonstrably are in Wendyl Nissen’s garage when she parks her “very green” Toyota Prius there.

Nasty Chemicals in Wendyl Nissen's garage

It seems that Toyota and Glitrap City toyota along with Wendyl Nissen are prepared to?willfully?lie, and lie utterly about the fact that there are “nasty chemicals” in the Green Goddess’s garage.

McDonalds Airport – How not to treat staff

Yesterday I went to straight from the gym to the airport to pick up DPF for his interview with the Veronicas. I was a little early and the parking nazis were in full force so I decided a Mac attack was warranted, especially as my trainer Billy has smashed me round the head repeatedly in the forlorn attempt for me to keep my hands up.

I rolled into McDonalds at the Airport and strolled up to the counter. As I was ordering a torrent of abuse burst forth from the rather large lady  standing behind my order takeer. She was yelling at a staff member who was supposedly late.

She was most vitriolic and her management style seemed to be abuse, humiliation and more abuse. In between abusing the late staff member and ordering him to wait in her office she also dealt out abuse to the other staff members who randomly passed within her beady eyed view.

The display was cringe inducing. I wouldn’t speak to my dog like that even after she’d crapped in the hallway and i’d stood in it. I was moved to intervene and so interrupted the loud mouth and asked her who the manager was. She told me she was and what did I want. I told her i want her to treat her staff with respect. She glowered at me.

As I thought about this yesterday afternoon he more pissed off I became. I fumed and fulminated whilst DPF was playing wit the Veronicas and then I acted.

I called up Matt McCarten, who I must say was dumbstruck that Whaleoil had called him, and told him the story. I even got called brother. I hope Matt does something with this story because I was sickened by this woman and how she treated those hardworking staff. I followed up with an email. Go sick’em Matt.

If anyone else has similar tales then let UNITE know about them.
