Finally someone addresses the elephant in the room for the left wing

Philip Matthews is a Twitter troll, and a journalist. He is a lot like John Drinnan, just with a smaller newspaper to bleat on it.

His?constant harping and screeching about Dirty Politics led me to block him, he like many journalists think Twitter is the real world. He still misses the point of Dirty Politics. It was an attempt to silence, in my case permanently, opposing political voices.

Nonetheless he has written an article in the DomPost addressing the elephant in the room…the left wings very own dirty politics brigade (but without the influence or relevance).

The left?wing mistook Twitter and blogging for the real world, and failed in their attempts to get me.

But are they part of the problem rather than the solution….after all Martyn Martin Bradbury established The Daily Blog with union funding to be “a Whaleoil killer”…and failed. He never even got close to his stated goal of a million pagewiews a month before the election.

In a parallel universe, David Cunliffe is the prime minister of New Zealand presiding over a Labour-NZ First minority government in a happy arrangement with the Green Party. Internet Mana, backed by German entrepreneur Kim Dotcom, has a few MPs in Parliament, including veteran activist Hone Harawira.

ACT is already history and former Prime Minister John Key has taken a long holiday in Hawaii.

Wake up. The Left was soundly defeated in the 2014 election.

“I think it’s fair to say we haven’t had dreams in colour since September 20,” says Left-wing activist and blogger Martyn Bradbury.

He freely admits he got it horribly wrong. That was his election prediction above. He “didn’t consider for one moment” that voters would rally to National and that high levels of early voting meant that New Zealanders were backing Key.

Instead, Labour had its worst result since 1922, the Greens slipped below their 2011 peak and Harawira is out of Parliament. “Despondent” is a good word to describe how those on the Left feel.

Judith Tizard factor strikes again

Just as things are quietening down for David Cunliffe’s wife, Karen Price, an ex Labour MP that knows about being an outcast chimes in giving the story another lot of oxygen for the news cycle

One of the Cunliffe family’s closest friends says Karen Price’s online attacks were deeply out of character.

Former Labour Party MP Judith Tizard defended David Cunliffe’s wife yesterday, saying she was “an extremely able and decent human being”.

She said Ms Price’s decision to set up an anonymous Twitter account last week to criticise journalists and MPs was an indication of the stress that families of prominent politicians faced.

“Any public statement is out of character [for her]. Karen is a very private person and I can only assume that she was driven to it.

Thanks for assuming. ? Just like a lot of current Labour Party MPs assume it was David Cunliffe that goaded his wife to run some hits on his behalf. ? Read more »

The post from The Standard that Labour doesn’t want you to see

Lyn Prentice from The Standard likes to go on about how independent the authors are, how no one tells them what to do or say, and since the election has been gobbing off repeatedly along those lines.

Then yesterday he wrote a post attacking Clayton Cosgrove.

In the afternoon however the post disappeared, and this message popped up on The Standard.

standard message

So, after telling us how all independent?they are they get a message from Tim Barnett to take the post down, and incredibly they then do so.

I have had, over the years, many requests from the hierarchy of the National party requests to take posts down, or instructions to stop bashing people, like Peter Goodfellow, and all those requests were met with a polite “Get stuffed”. If they pushed the issue then it go a stronger response along the lines of “Go f*ck yourself”.

Yet here we have a supposedly independent blog and author taking orders from the Labour party hierarchy.

Word from my Labour sources, both inside Fraser House and labour’s caucus is that Barnett and Moira Coatsworth are trying to hose down the animosity and open warfare and so are strong arming people to shut up, or remove posts like the one that has disappeared from The Standard.

Unfortunately for the world’s greatest sysop this is the internet…and nothing is gone even when you delete it.

So as a public service and as a matter of public interest in trying to understand why the Labour party is successfully censoring The Standard,?here is the text of the post that the Labour party is trying to quietly bury. ?? Read more »

Face of the day

Moira Coatsworth

Moira Coatsworth

Moira is trying to whip Labour Party members into shape. Apparently they have been playing dirty politics with each other and that is not OK.
Dirty Politics is only OK if it is used against nasty Bloggers like Cameron Slater and that horrible John Key who all those stupid sheep voted for last month. Labour needs to be on message and well disciplined and er united.

Robertson/Vance hit #2

Once you know what to look for… ? Andrea Vance delivers another hit for Team Robertson:

Those who know the couple say Price was as invested in Cunliffe’s political success as he was. She was said to be heavily involved in his campaign last year to be leader.

Many of her anonymous comments as @tarnbabe67 echo those made publicly by her husband: about “backroom” caucus deals; emphasising a party “code” of ethics for leadership contenders; and that the previous primary contest was “good” for the party. Read more »

Mrs Cunliffe (aka Karen Price, aka TarnBabe67) outs Andrea Vance as Robertson’s media poodle

In the excitement that was TarnBabe67 yesterday, one of the more interesting side-issues has almost gone without mention. ?The fact that Andrea Vance has been tagged as anti-Cunliffe, pro-Robertson, and that she and Robertson have been doing hit jobs together on David.

Ms Price is reportedly known by the nickname “Tarn”, which is apparently what alerted Labour Party members to the Twitter users true identity, Fairfax reported.

Mr Cunliffe’s office told Fairfax last night: “My understanding is that it was started by a family member who wanted to defend me at a stressful time. The Twitter account was activated in September 26 and has been closed down.”

Ms Price also targeted Fairfax reporter Andrea Vance through the Twitter account after she wrote a column that was critical of Mr Cunliffe.

Responding to a tweet which said the column “sums everything up extremely well”, Ms Price tweeted: “No it sums up Andrea Vance very well. She’s unidimensional and unbalanced. Grant’s been feeding her for years.” Read more »

CORRECTION and APOLOGY to David Cunliffe

Earlier this morning I called David Cunliffe a liar for saying he didn’t know about his wife’s @TarnBabe67 Twitter account because he was the first to “Follow” it with his own Twitter account.

Turns out this was impossible.

Just a few points though. ? Read more »

Mrs Cunliffe does a Mea Culpa, and will now have a short break

…which is code for “going down into the media-proof bunker”

And this would be the person that co-aspired to be a Prime Minister’s wife?

Good judgement is not something abundant in the Cunliffe household.

Lying also is a standard fall-back mechanism:

Twitter users said Mr Cunliffe was one of only seven followers the account had over the weekend.

“Interesting he knew nothing about a 3 day old account when he was one of only 7 followers…..,” one posted this morning.

What an omnishables.

With friends like?TarnBabe67, what’s Mr?TarnBabe67 to do?

Cunliffe’s wife writes new chapter for dirty politics

Generally political spouses do not enter the fray. There is an unwritten rule not to go after families.

That of course changes when the families go after you.

Then the gloves come off.

As I predicted the Labour leadership spill has got real nasty, and now Karen Price, Mrs Cunliffe for?those who don’t know, has entered the political fray jumping on Twitter to abuse those who oppose her husband.

The distraught wife of Labour leadership contender David Cunliffe is behind a Twitter account that anonymously took aim at his rivals and critics.

Karen Price, a high-flying environmental lawyer, is understood to have started the @TarnBabe67 account on Saturday, the day Cunliffe indicated he would resign as Labour leader.

The account first attacked a newspaper for running candid pictures of the New Lynn MP, and went on to criticise others in the media. But the worst barbs were saved for those said to be in the “Anyone But Cunliffe” leadership faction, naming his rival Grant Robertson and MPs Trevor Mallard and Clayton Cosgrove. ? Read more »
