How’s that global warming feeling?

The UK has just had its coldest spring since 1891…even thought the media think it is the the coldest since 1962.

According to the Central England Temperature Series, England has just experienced its coldest Spring since 1891. The average mean temperature of 6.87C ranks the 31st coldest on records starting in 1659, and is 2 degrees lower than the 1981-2010 average of 8.9C.

The real deniers

People like me and many of my readers who think global warming and the huge industry built up by scientists over the fake crisis are a fraud on mankind are called deniers, but who are the real deniers?

The Northern Hemisphere is experiencing unusually cold weather. Snow cover last December was the greatest since satellite monitoring began in 1966. The United Kingdom had the coldest March weather in 50 years, and there were more than a thousand record low temperatures in the United States. The Irish meteorological office reported that March ?temperatures were the lowest on record nearly everywhere.? Spring snowfall in Europe was also high. In Moscow, the snow depth was the highest in 134 years of observation. In Kiev, authorities had to bring in military vehicles to clear snow from the streets.

Cold-weather extremes are a natural climatic variation, and this is exactly the point. If the world were experiencing a climate crisis owing to global warming, there shouldn?t be a single record low temperature anywhere in the world. The Associated Press has assured us, though, that this cold spell is not only consistent with a warming globe, it is actually caused by global warming. The proffered explanation is that cold weather in Europe is a result of melting sea ice in the Arctic. If this special pleading strikes you as unusually tendentious, it is all in the best tradition of explaining away ex post facto any weather event that appears to contradict the ruling paradigm.? Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past…oh wait

On 20 March 2000 Charles Onians had this to say:

Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.

The first two months of 2000 were virtually free of significant snowfall in much of lowland Britain, and December brought only moderate snowfall in the South-east. It is the continuation of a trend that has been increasingly visible in the past 15 years: in the south of England, for instance, from 1970 to 1995 snow and sleet fell for an average of 3.7 days, while from 1988 to 1995 the average was 0.7 days. London’s last substantial snowfall was in February 1991.? Read more »

Syria civil war because of climate change?

Climate Change has been blamed for many, many things. The list is extensive.

Now we can add Syria’s civil war to the list as being blamed on climate change.

What next…blaming gay marriage on climate change as well?

Did anyone notice that an idiot dictator controlled the country and everyone got sick of him?

Drought is connected with “Climate Change” and increasing…not so fast

Despite the glorious rainfall today there are still claims by many that the drought currently being experienced by most of the country is somehow linked with climate change and that we should get used to this. Perhaps we should stop listening to NIWA, the assorted climate alarmists and start listening to Princeton and Australian National University:

Released late last year (November) by Princeton and ANU:

A series of recent droughts from Australia to the United States has led some scientists to warn that global warming has already begun to increase worldwide drought. But new research from Princeton and the Australian National University in Canberra has found that this might not be the case…..

…A new analysis of drought conditions over the past 50 years has yielded a nuanced view of global trends. Red areas have experienced increasing levels of drought while blue areas have become less prone to dry conditions.?Overall, there has been less of a trend toward drought globally than previously thought,?Princeton researchers have found.?(Image courtesy of Justin Sheffield)….

….The greater detail of the Princeton model does mean it is more difficult to use and requires a far greater amount of data than other estimates.?In fact, the researchers said the data requirements precluded its widespread use by climate scientists until relatively recently,?when better satellite coverage and improvements in global data from ground weather stations provided more extensive and reliable estimates of meteorological variables such as precipitation, humidity and wind speed…..

So two questions:

When did Salinger leave NIWA?

Does NIWA used the discredited Palmer Drought Index or are they using the new Princeton Model?

Loads of Global Warming in the UK

Looks like loads of global warming is affecting the UK:

Snowfall will cause disruption across the country, the Met Office has warned, with freezing temperatures expected to last through the half term into March.

Up to four inches of snow is expected across the UK overnight on Sunday as a band of rain turns to snow.

Forecasters warned that the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of Wales will be worst affected, with the possibility of snowfall and icy roads in London as rush hour hits.

Thousands of gritters have been sent out and Network Rail is preparing trains for ice and snow. Sleet and snowfall around Heathrow and other major airports may cause disruption.? Read more »

Global Warming is biting hard in the UK

I wonder what the Poms think about global?warming?that is sweeping down on them at the moment:

Meteorologists have warned that the bitterly cold weather sweeping Britain may last for weeks as a disturbance in the upper atmosphere keeps temperatures low.

As the hardest hit areas enjoy a respite from snow today, and ice becomes the main danger, experts say this wintry blast is the result of a phenomenon called sudden stratospheric warming ? and they warn that its effects could last for up to a month more.

?This is a major event in the stratosphere, and it?s driving the cold weather,? said Adam Scaife at the Met Office.

?The lower stratosphere will be perturbed for weeks, and it?s pushing the chances of further cold and easterly winds well into February.?? Read more »

Global Warming, Yeah Right!

? The Telegraph

We?have?been lied to…now it is official. James Delingpole explains how we have been?systematically?lied to by agencies.

Have a look at this chart. It tells you pretty much all you need to know about the much-anticipated scoop by Anthony Watts of Watts Up With That?

What it means, in a nutshell, is that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ? the US government body in charge of America’s temperature record, has systematically exaggerated the extent of late 20th century global warming. In fact, it has doubled it.

Is this a case of deliberate fraud by Warmist scientists hell bent on keeping their funding gravy train rolling? Well, after what we saw in Climategate anything is possible. (I mean it’s not like?NOAA is run by hard-left eco activists, is it?) But I think more likely it is a case of confirmation bias. The Warmists who comprise the climate scientist establishment spend so much time communicating with other warmists and so little time paying attention to the views of dissenting scientists such as Henrik Svensmark ? or Fred Singer or Richard Lindzen or indeed Anthony Watts ? that it simply hasn’t occurred to them that their temperature records need adjusting downwards not upwards.

What Watts has conclusively demonstrated is that most of the weather stations in the US are so poorly sited that their temperature data is unreliable. Around 90 per cent have had their temperature readings skewed by the Urban Heat Island effect. While he has suspected this for some time what he has been unable to do until his latest, landmark paper (co-authored with Evan Jones of New York, Stephen McIntyre of Toronto, Canada, and Dr. John R. Christy from the Department of Atmospheric Science, University of Alabama, Huntsville) is to put precise figures on the degree of distortion involved.

So fix this, Green Party

? Scotsman

Natural changes ?in seawater is causing global climate change according to a new study.? So what are the Greens going to do about that?? Drain the?Pacific Ocean?

Natural changes in seawater chemistry are a key cause of ?climate change, a new study ?suggests.

Experts at the University of Toronto and the University of California Santa Cruz have found that the impact of continental collisions and divisions over millions of years has a major ?impact on global warming.

The geological activity causes the dissolution or creation of massive gyspum deposits which scientists have found alters the sulphate content of the ocean and the atmosphere. That in turn affects the climate.

Researchers believe that ?times of high sulphate concentrations in ocean water correlate with global cooling, just as times of low concentration correspond with greenhouse periods?.

Professor Ulrich Wortmann, of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto and lead author of the study, said: ?While it has been known for a long time that gyspum deposits can be formed and destroyed rapidly, the effect of these processes on seawater chemistry has been overlooked.

?The idea represents a paradigm shift in our understanding of how ocean chemistry changes over time and how these changes are linked to climate.?

Wind Farms cause Climate Change

? The Telegraph

Oh dear…it looks like the poster child for climate change advocates and warmists actually cause active climate change themselves.

Wind farms can cause climate change, according to new research, that shows for the first time the new technology is already pushing up temperatures.

Usually at night the air closer to the ground becomes colder when the sun goes down and the earth cools.

But on huge wind farms the motion of the turbines mixes the air higher in the atmosphere that is warmer, pushing up the overall temperature.

Satellite data over a large area in Texas, that is now covered by four of the world’s largest wind farms, found that over a decade the local temperature went up by almost 1C as more turbines are built.

This could have long term effects on wildlife living in the immediate areas of larger wind farms.

It could also affect regional weather patterns as warmer areas affect the formation of cloud and even wind speeds.
