Mike Tyson

Maybe he is coming to apply for a job with the Nats?

Chris Brown concert tickets go on sale today despite him still not having permission to enter the country.

Tickets for Chris Brown’s Auckland concert are due to go on sale today despite uncertainty about whether it will even go ahead.

Australia has taken a step toward blocking Brown entering the country by giving a formal notice that it intends to consider refusing giving him a visa. He has 28 days to present material as to why he should be given a visa to enter Australia.

The singer performed in two shows in New Zealand in 2008. The following year he was convicted in 2009 of assaulting and threatening to kill his then girlfriend, Rihanna, and sentenced to five years probation.

Brown has previously been banned from the United Kingdom and Canada.   Read more »

How do Len Brown’s donors reconcile their statement that the Kayaka nd Rafting Centre will benefit under-privileged in South Auckland because “with an entry fee of $35 for kayaking and $55 for rafting, [the centre] is budgeted to run profitably” with statements from the Labour party that have consistently told us that the under-privileged of South Auckland can’t even afford to feed their children and so the state must intervene?

Diddums, get lost

Mike Tyson is having a big cry and reckons it isn’t fair he got the arse card. Well boo-fucking-hoo to him.

Three days after he was banned from New Zealand, Mike Tyson criticised the decision to revoke his visa because of his rape conviction.

The former heavyweight champion was to travel to Auckland in November before authorities on Wednesday denied him entry. Tyson had been hoping to perform his one-man show called “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth.”

“I just wanted to go down there and just have a show,” Tyson said. “Unfortunately that had to happen. It’s one of those things in life that happens. It’s life on life’s terms and everyone has to deal with that and those uncertainties.”

Tyson had wanted to meet New Zealand’s indigenous Maori people, the inspiration for his prominent facial tattoo.

“The people wanted me to come,” he said. “If it was a fair organisation, a fair fight I would be there but I got vetoed by the higher power.”

Why the double standard?

John Key had this to say about letting Mike Tyson into the country and his views on domestic violence and honours:

“It’s a marginal call and there are always issues that have to be reflected.”

A “fairly liberal” view was taken if the crime was a long time ago and there had been no further offending, he said.

“I don’t have anything personally against Mike Tyson. But I have something deeply personal against people rape other people and commit crimes against women.”

Key said he turned down “numerous” people for New Years or Queens Birthday honours because they had convictions for violence against women.

“I will not allow them to have that honour. I don’t think that should be bestowed on someone. So it is not specific against Mike Tyson, I’m just not fond of what he’s done.”

One has to ask then why the double standard? If violence against women precludes receiving honours then why is it ok for senior officials in the National party?

Will Mr B. now be hoping for a change of government so he can get an honour?

EPA Jumps the Shark

from Andrew Bolt

The green faith reveals itself in full contempt. Humans are by their living, breathing nature now officially pollutants of this world:

THE US Environmental Protection Agency has shifted course and deemed carbon dioxide a health risk, in a turnabout important to global warming-related regulation.

But what will trees use for food when carbon dioxide is eliminated.

Madness is on the hoof.

The best thing Greens can now do is self-terminate. It i for the good of the planet.

Greens cause warming

hat tip Andrew Bolt

A new NASA study blames not carbon dioxide but green laws for causing most of the Arctic warming:

Though greenhouse gases are invariably at the center of discussions about global climate change, new NASA research suggests that much of the atmospheric warming observed in the Arctic since 1976 may be due to changes in tiny airborne particles called aerosols.

Emitted by natural and human sources, aerosols can directly influence climate by reflecting or absorbing the sun’s radiation. The small particles also affect climate indirectly by seeding clouds and changing cloud properties, such as reflectivity.

A new study, led by climate scientist Drew Shindell of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, New York, used a coupled ocean-atmosphere model to investigate how sensitive different regional climates are to changes in levels of carbon dioxide, ozone, and aerosols… Indeed, the model suggests aerosols likely account for 45 percent or more of the warming that has occurred in the Arctic during the last three decades.

If you click through you will find that contrary to what the Greens say about evil coal fired power stations;

Though there are several varieties of aerosols, previous research has shown that two types — sulfates and black carbon — play an especially critical role in regulating climate change. Both are products of human activity.

Sulfates, which come primarily from the burning of coal and oil, scatter incoming solar radiation and have a net cooling effect on climate. Over the past three decades, the United States and European countries have passed a series of laws that have reduced sulfate emissions by 50 percent. While improving air quality and aiding public health, the result has been less atmospheric cooling from sulfates.

Who to believe?

From Andrew Bolt;

Barack Obama:

Few challenges facing America and the world are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear.

100 scientists:

With all due respect Mr. President, that is not true.

We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated. Surface temperature changes over the past century have been episodic and modest and there has been no net global warming for over a decade now. After controlling for population growth and property values, there has been no increase in damages from severe weather-related events. The computer models forecasting rapid temperature change abjectly fail to explain recent climate behavior. Mr. President, your characterization of the scientific facts regarding climate change and the degree of certainty informing the scientific debate is simply incorrect.
