An Open Letter to all New Zealanders from Dame Susan Devoy, Race Relations Commissioner

Guest post

Today we start a campaign that’s about us. In fact, we’re calling it?That’s Us?because it’s about the kind of people we want to be, as well as the kind of country we want our kids growing up in.?That’s Us?is our first nationwide, anti-racism campaign that asks Kiwis to start sharing our own stories about racism, intolerance and hatred: but to also share our hopes for the future.

Every year around 400 people make formal complaints to us about racism they’ve faced, they come from all over the country and from a wide range of circumstances. However, we know the overwhelming majority of people never complain or go public when a car drives past and the people in it scream a racist obscenity, when the woman registering students at university smiles at every other student but the brown ones or your son is called racist names as he runs down the rugby field.? These are those “casual” or “quiet” racist encounters that never feel casual or quiet when you and your family are the ones being humiliated. What we embark on today is a platform for people to share these stories with other New Zealanders.

Many people don’t think racial intolerance or racism is a problem: often because they do not experience it themselves.? By raising the voices of those New Zealanders who face racial intolerance in their everyday life: we’re hoping other New Zealanders will take the time to listen. We suspect?many of us don’t realise when something we say is unfair or biased: but we would if someone pointed it out to us.? Read more »

The unbridled nonsense of multiculturalism

Townhall’s Walter Williams reports:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that multiculturalism has “utterly failed,” adding that it was an illusion to think Germans and foreign workers could “live happily side by side.” The failure of multiculturalism is also seen in Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and other European countries. Immigrants coming from Africa and the Middle East refuse to assimilate and instead seek to import the failed cultures they fled.

Leftist diversity advocates and multiculturalists are right to argue that people of all races, religions and cultures should be equal in the eyes of the law. But their argument borders on idiocy when they argue that one set of cultural values cannot be judged superior to another and that to do so is Eurocentrism.

That’s unbridled nonsense. Ask a diversity/multiculturalism advocate: Is forcible female genital mutilation, as practiced in nearly 30 sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern countries, a morally equivalent cultural value? Slavery is practiced in northern Sudan. In most of the Middle East, there are numerous limits placed on women, such as prohibitions on driving, employment and education. Under Islamic law, in some countries, female adulterers face death by stoning, and thieves are punished by having their hand severed. In some African and Middle Eastern countries, homosexuality is a crime, in some cases punishable by death. Are all these cultural values morally equivalent to those of the West?

Activist youth of Germany are speaking out about the future of Europe

The ?Future of Europe? is the title of a video made?by the German branch of the anti-mass migration youth movement called Identitarian. The young men and women in the video don?t fit the image the Media promotes of right-wing activists. There are no shaved heads or military-type clothing. They look like average Germans. I am sure that this is deliberate. Their movement is more mainstream than the media want to admit and it is to the average German that they are pitching their movement.

We all know what happened in Germany when Hitler appealed to Germans’ desire for a proud, national identity. In his case, he scapegoated the Jews for all of Germany’s financial woes that, in reality, had been caused by the reparation payments from the previous world war. In this case, refugees/immigrants actually are causing financial and societal woes in Germany because their numbers have not been restricted by Merkel’s government and because they have not been adequately screened. If Merkel’s government continues to do nothing, how long will it be before Germans take matters into their own hands? Europe is a powder keg and the fuse has already been lit.

?you impose tolerance and diversity but you mean self-hatred, self-denial, and self-abolishment. You love and support the foreign and hate and fight what is our own. You want to talk us into believing that we have no identity, that we are too homogeneous. We shall be repressed and replaced. You preach of the diversity of cultures yet you destroy them.?

Guest Post – Multiculturalism?s Treachery

16/10/09 TODAY Picture by Tal Cohen - Muslims protest outside Geert Wilders press conference in central London 16 October 2009, Wilders who faces prosecution in the Netherlands for anti-Islam remarks pays visit to the capital. The Freedom Party leader said 'Lord Malcolm Pearson has invited me to come to the House of Lords to discuss our future plans to show Fitna the movie.' Wilders won an appeal on October 13 against a ban, enforced in February, from entering Britain. Ministers felt his presence would threaten public safety and lead to interfaith violence. What do North Korea, Russia, Iran, Syria ? and the Zealots of Multiculturalism all have in common?? Communism? No. Religion? No. Totalitarianism? Close. It is hatred of the West.

Since 1776 America has stood as the great symbol of Western ideals; Reason, Freedom & Democracy.? More specifically, these ideals have evolved into becoming the hallmarks of all modern democracies in the Anglosphere and Europe; separation of religion from state (religious tolerance), the emancipation of women and children, a commitment to scientific discovery, freedom of speech and of the press, and the right to self determination.

I challenge anyone in the world to point to a group of human beings anywhere, who stand for anything nobler than the above political and cultural achievements. If Socrates? words ?know thyself? mean anything to us, then we in the West must be clear about what defines our civilisation?s daily character, for its creation is exceptional in the affairs of humankind.? ?
