Sarah Hanson-Young

Silly Green tart

People who take offence at obvious satire or even name calling and trot off to court often get their arses handed to them in the most ignominious manner.

Take this silly green senator in Australia who is suing a magazine for a photoshop job…she has obviously never heard of the Streisand Effect.

Australian Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young says ZOO magazine made her look incompetent and immature when they photoshopped her head onto the body of a lingerie clad model.

Senator Hanson-Young is suing the magazine on several grounds over the photo and article entitled “ZOO’s Asylum Seeker Bikini Plan”, published in July 2012, a week after her emotional address in the Senate about Australia’s humanitarian intake of asylum-seekers.

But NSW Supreme Court Justice Lucy McCallum on Wednesday struck out several of her arguments, saying she did not believe the photo made the senator look incompetent or immature.

Good news for Australia

The green taliban are the scourge of society. They oppose all and every possible technological advance. In Australia via their voting system it is possible to stop their advances.

NICK Xenophon is an independent Senator from South Australia who makes a great Greek salad and says he was inspired to get into national politics because Kevin Rudd seemed genuine about problem gambling.

The scourge of the pokies is Xenophon’s driving passion, although he’s also a parochial SA booster who fights for the health of the Murray River, and has a following in his state that most politicians would die for.

He’s up for election this time and has an outside hope of getting a running mate elected as well. However, a decision he’s taken could have a dramatic impact on the Greens Party’s chances in his state.

Sarah Hanson-Young, a rising star in Greens’ ranks, is up for re-election but Xenophon may have spiked her guns.  Read more »

Good news for Australia

It looks like the hated carbon tax in Australia is destined for the scrap heap, Tony Abbott is really close to getting the numbers to axe it.

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott is looking more likely to be able to make good on his oft-repeated assertions to scrap the carbon tax should the Coalition win government in September.

Analysis of voting trends shows that should the present pattern continue to the election, the Coalition would effectively control both houses of parliament, making it powerful enough to repeal the carbon tax.

While Prime Minister Julia Gillard has previously claimed Mr Abbott will not have the numbers to honour his ”blood pledge” to scrap the carbon tax, an analysis of Senate seats up for re-election reveals a majority will likely fall into conservative hands.

Senior lecturer in politics at Griffith University Paul Williams said ”there should be no electoral or numerical obstacles to Tony Abbott repealing the act early in his first term”.

Greens are the same the world over

The world over Green Taliban are happy to lie if they think it will achieve their aims. In New Zealand the green taliban milked the MV Rena grounding mercilessly. Greenpeace were caught out lying about sea bird deaths, Gareth Hughes claimed the beaches were ruined forever…it was all lies and mis-truths..but all for the good of the green taliban cause.

Now the Aussie green taliban is split about whether their scam that destroyed the value of an Australian company was fit and proper. Apparently not all Greens MPs agree it is fine to lie and cheat people out of their savings to push their agenda.

THE Australian Greens are split over a hoax that temporarily wiped $300 million off the value of Whitehaven Coal.

Greens leader Christine Milne has said the action was part a long and proud history of civil disobedience.

Her colleague Lee Rhiannon congratulated activist Jonathan Moylan, who issued a bogus press release purporting to be from the ANZ Bank and which said the bank had cancelled a $1.2 billion loan facility for Whitehaven’s Maules Creek project in northwest NSW.  Read more »
