China to go nuclear on NZ for steel dumping WTO complaint

Caution:  the following was received via the Tipline and it hasn’t been vetted.  As a result, it needs to be taken as the personal opinion and observations of its author

As above, I was at at a meeting today and it was revealed that Pacific Steel NZ (a Bluescope subsidiary) has lodged a WTO steel dumping complaint against communist China.

Word is/was(unverified/researched) that China, our FTA partner is furious with not only Bluescope, but the NZ Govt.

Threats of Chinese blacklisting of NZ primary products were mentioned.

I personally have been anticipating a diplomatic/trade over reaction from China against a supposed NZ affront to China since the signing of the NZ/China FTA.

Communist China has a history of diplomatic blundering for 70 years now. Read more »

Greenpeace Ratbags and Hippy-crites protesting progress

hippy-crite1

I was just having a look through the photos of the hippy protestors. There are loads of plastics, which are made with oil, plenty of metals, obtained via mining, not to mention their native timber boats and petrol driven engines.

In Video Blog 10, by the skipper’s admission at about 50s, it would seem they managed to get to the protest location through the use of an internal combustion engine, fuelled with diesel.

Check this out.

One of the boats is called SV Ratbag…which is hilarious and appropriate.

SV Ratbag is 43-foot gaff-rigged topsail schooner, a traditional wooden classic. Built in the traditional manner by the late Curtis Ashford.

That would be the traditional manner of cutting down trees and sawing them into planks?

SV Tiama is a 15.15 metre steel cutter, designed   by Alan Mummery, built by Henk Haazen.  Read more »

Green ratbags bugger up pommy manufacturing revival

I don’t know why we continue to listen to green ratbags. Nothing they have ever predicted has come true, and now their stupid policies are harming economies the world over.

Britain’s manufacturing revival is being hampered by a raft of UK-specific green taxes, steel giant Tata has said, as it called for the Government to do more to create a “level playing field” with the rest of Europe.

Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, said on Friday that while abandoning green policies would be “short-sighted and foolish”, protecting energy-intensive industries was a priority. “My particular concern is to make sure that the chemical and steel industries for example are not disadvantaged by very high energy prices, and we introduce schemes to make sure they’re compensated and properly offset,” he told BBC Radio 4.

But Tata, which employs 18,500 people in the UK, warned that an array of green levies, including the so-called carbon price floor – charged on fossil fuels used in power generation – was putting the company at a competitive disadvantage.  Read more »

Nicola Toki trips over her own tongue

If there’s one thing militant conservationists tree/snail huggers are becoming increasingly notorious for, it is rank hypocrisy. When Nikola Toki isn’t busy jumping up and down about Bathurst Resources plan to mine the Denniston Plateau, opposing the creation of jobs and its flow on effects for the economy, she’s busy burning solid fuel and polluting the atmosphere with smoke.

Labour Police Pledge under threat

Labours pledge to increase Police numbers is seriously under threat . In actual fact they are almost going backwards with 638 new recruits sworn in and 391 leaving in the same period.

Is it any wonder the Police are in such a parlous state with having had the worse Police Minister in living memory and a Political Hack as it commissioner for so long.
