Green energy bludgers put their hand out for more corporate welfare

As if blinding pilots and frying bird life isn’t enough the corporate bludgers who built the solar plant at Ivanpah with a cheap Federal loan are now trying to line up a Federal grant to pay off the Federal loan.

There is literally nowhere in the world where these green energy projects can survive without running to the government to?be bailed out with loans or subsidies or grants.

Worse still the plant is owned by Google…who have more money than a bull can poop…I suggest they cough for their stupid project themselves.

After already receiving a controversial $1.6 billion construction loan from U.S. taxpayers, the wealthy investors of a California solar power plant now want a $539 million federal grant to pay off their federal loan.

“This is an attempt by very large cash generating companies that have billions on their balance sheet to get a federal bailout, i.e. a bailout from us – the taxpayer for their pet project,” said Reason Foundation VP of Research Julian Morris. “It’s actually rather obscene.”

The Ivanpah solar electric generating plant is owned by Google and renewable energy giant NRG, which are responsible for paying off their federal loan. If approved by the U.S. Treasury, the two corporations will not use their own money, but taxpayer cash to pay off 30 percent of the cost of their plant, but taxpayers will receive none of the millions in revenues the plant will generate over the next 30 years.

“They’re already paying less than the market rate,” said Morris, author of a lengthy report detailing alleged cronyism and corruption in the Obama administration’s green energy programs. “Now demanding or asking for a subsidy in the form of a grant directly paying off the loan is an egregious abuse.”

NRG doesn’t see it that way, telling Fox News the money is there for the taking.”NRG believes in a clean and sustainable energy future and therefore participates in available government programs to develop and expand the use of clean energy to accelerate America?s energy independence.” In 2013, the Obama administration handed out $18.5 billion in renewable energy grants, with $4.4 billion going to solar projects.

Ivanpah is the largest concentrated solar power plant in the world. It was unveiled in February with great fanfare. Dr. Ernest Moniz, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, justified taxpayers’ investment at the time, saying, “We want to be technology leaders. It’s good for our economy and it?s also good for helping stimulate the global transition to low carbon.”

Mainstream media and so called “independent” consultants

I see that TVNZ have trotted out Molly Melhuish as an “energy analyst”.

“It’s basically the generator retailers trying to raise the prices as high as the market will bear,” says energy analyst Molly Melhuish.

TV3 also interviewed her last month as an “independent energy consultant” to talk about the Green’s solar power policy

“But one?independent energy consultant, Molly Melhuish, believes solar is the way of the future for New Zealand.”

This is the same “independent energy consultant” that spoke at an Aotearoa Is Not For Sale march against asset sales in April last year, according to this (badly spelt) transcript of her speech:

Greypower now has a policy that says energy leglislation must say [that] all household energy and especially electricity must be provided in a manner that?s fair, sustainable, efficient, and reliable. That was the law in 2001- Labour changed the law to make that. [But] National government took away ?fair and sustainable? [from legislation]. That is wrong.

What to do about it? Change the government!

The only way you will get a change is to change the government! Vote for it! Peter Love told you that? in the first speech; vote for change. Greypower sez vote for change. That?s your job ? We Greypower can support it but it is your job to vote for change.?? Read more »

Green Taliban will be pleased, and the haggis chewing porridge wogs will have more cabers to toss

There’s nothing quite like green energy, especially when you have to cut down millions of trees to do it. The Scottish?Porridge Wog National Party (centre left leaning) is on a rampage to rid the countryside of pesky trees to make way for more expensive subsidised wind turbines?bird blenders that will take up to 190 years to pay off these dodgy investments.

It looks like green energy isn?t so green after all.

Scottish government figures show that millions of trees have been cut down in order to build wind turbines to help the region meet its renewable energy goals.

The Times of London reports that more than 6,200 acres of woodland ? or about five million trees ? have been cut down since 2007 in order to make way for wind farms to produce renewable energy and fight global warming. But only about 1,957 acres of woodland were planted after the wind farms were built.

Scotland wants to get 100 percent of its power from renewable, but doing so has come at a high cost to the country?s landscape. The Scottish National Party, a left-leaning party that wants to secede from the United Kingdom, has often invoked renewable energy as a path to independence.

Conservative lawmakers have been hammering the government for its support of green energy at the expense of Scotland?s natural beauty. Scottish Conservative energy spokesman Murdo Fraser told the Times, ?the [Scottish National Party] is so blindly obsessed with renewable energy that it doesn?t mind destroying another important environmental attribute to make way for it.?

?It?s astonishing to see that almost as many trees have been destroyed as there are people in Scotland,? said Fraser, whose party obtained these figures through a government records request. Read more »

Obama gives bird blenders 30 year licence to kill eagles

I hate wind power…it junks up the view, makes an unholy racket and slaughters birds, in particular raptors.

But Obama has now given the companies running bird blenders a 30 year licence to kill eagles.

The Obama administration has just given wind turbine operators the license to kill birds and eagles for 30 years, a move welcomed by the wind industry but derided by environmentalists and Republicans.

The Interior Department changed a rule that now enables the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to extend the amount of time renewable?energy?companies can kill migratory birds and eagles in a bid to boost green energy development. Wind operators can now get a permit to kill birds for 30 years, up from five years.? Read more »

Suffering under stupid green taxes

Subsidies are evil, and doubly so when used to fund stupid green policies that further wreck the economy.

Right so they will attempt to?cut household power bills by increasing the household’s tax bill…dumber than a sack of hammers.

Just ditch the dumb “green” schemes.

New taxes to pay for environmental schemes are being considered as part of a deal to cut household energy bills, it can be disclosed.

The taxpayer would foot the bill for two of the ?green? schemes, all of which are currently paid for through a levy on gas and electricity bills.

The major energy suppliers have repeatedly told ministers the levies are pushing up household bills ? for which they and the Government have been severely criticised. ? Read more »

Green Energy push backfires on Europe as bills mount

Europe is in big trouble and they only have themselves to blame for listening to the green taliban and their push for “green energy” projects that simply aren’t delivering and astonishingly expensive.

In the last four years, European electricity costs have spiked 17% for homeowners and 21% for industry,?according to the?Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

The situation is most acute in the UK, where one in six households was spending more than 10% of its income to ?maintain adequate warmth? in 2011,?according government statistics cited by Reuters? John Kemp.? ? Read more »

‘Saving Humanity’ can only come via Nuclear power…and warmists have said this

My, my haven’t the tables the turned.

The warmists are now advocating for greater use of nuclear power as the ONLY way to save humanity from global warming. Not just any warmists either…the high priests no less.

Watch the Greens go puce over this.

Four of the best-known scientists espousing the belief that humanity’s carbon emissions are an immediate and deadly threat have issued a statement begging their fellow greens to support nuclear power.

Doctors James Hansen, Ken Caldeira, Kerry Emanuel and Tom Wigley co-signed an open letter over the weekend in which they address “those influencing environmental policy, but opposed to nuclear power”. The four scientists write that “continued opposition to nuclear power threatens humanity’s ability to avoid dangerous climate change … there is no credible path to climate stabilization that does not include a substantial role for nuclear power”. ? Useless dago renewable energy

Renewable energy all over the world over is showing that it is dead set useless…especially where it is heavily subsidised.

Spain is no different, their energy industry is in tatters as a result of renewable projects.

Years of disastrous policies, coupled with the economic crisis, have recast renewable energy in Spain. Once touted as the embodiment of progress, wealth and sustainability, the industry is now seen as an unwanted and costly extravagance.

The policy turnaround started in 2010 but picked up momentum with a government decree in July aimed at closing a widening gap between the cost of electricity generation and what consumers pay ? known as the tariff deficit.

The decree?s impact has all but erased public support for renewable power, raising alarms in the industry inside and outside Spain.

?We?ve gone from misery to ruin,? said Jaume Margarit, director of the Association of Renewable Energy Producers.? Read more »

Gay and Expensive…Green energy can’t exist without subsidies

Green energy sucks…loads of cash. Unfortunately politicians haven’t got the stones to knock it on the head.

There are numerous examples worldwide of failing green energy…but have a look at the UK!

Every British household will pay an average of more than ?400 in higher bills over the next six years to pay for subsidies under controversial Government plans to hit green power targets.

The money will go solely to paying for otherwise uneconomic offshore wind turbines, onshore wind farms, biomass plants, landfill gas sites and hydro power plants, new figures show.

Green energy is supposed to be the wave of the future. Who on earth wants a future that is rapaciously expensive and doesn’t work?

If it is uneconomic then shut it down and get rid of it, don’t keep subsidising it. ?Only terminalyy retarded people keep on pouring money in a scam or ponzi scheme like green energy. Read more »

Pommy green taxes will add a third to electricity prices by 2020

Thanks to the green taliban, stealth taxes and subsidies in the UK poms can look forward to their electricity bills being more than a third higher than they are now by 2020.

Swingeing green stealth levies on energy bills are ?perverse? and should be scrapped, MPs warn today.

A major report says the taxes are hitting poorer families hardest.

MPs also call for middle-class pensioners to lose their winter fuel allowance, with the savings redirected to help low-income households insulate their homes.

And they attack the regulator Ofgem for failing to hold energy firms to account for soaring prices.? Read more »
