The Daily Show

Farewell, Jon Stewart [FIXED]

Yesterday was Jon Stewart’s last time hosting the Daily Show.  16 years of quality TV.  And what started off as just trying to poke fun at the news ended up being the most cutting edge satire.  More people trusted The Daily Show’s take on current events than any other MSM news channel.

And to some degree Jon Stewart lives here at Whaleoil too.  Because I try to bring humour to the news.  Satire.  Over-the-top emphasis on the ridiculous.  Feeding people’s own words back to them to make them look silly.   Covering the angles the MSM won’t touch.

All of those have been tried, tested and well delivered on The Daily Show.

Audiences love it, appreciate it, and trust it.

Thank you Jon.

As much at home writing editorials as being the subject of them, Cam has won awards, including the Canon Media Award for his work on the Len Brown/Bevan Chuang story. When he’s not creating the news, he tends to be in it, with protagonists using the courts, media and social media to deliver financial as well as death threats.

They say that news is something that someone, somewhere, wants kept quiet. Cam Slater doesn’t do quiet and, as a result, he is a polarising, controversial but highly effective journalist who takes no prisoners.

He is fearless in his pursuit of a story.

Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him.
