Appeal rejected for Tinder basher

IT?S LOVE at first swipe ? or is it?

The potential pitfalls of hooking up through ?Tinder? have once again been exposed ? this time in a High Court appeal involving a man found guilty of assaulting a woman he met back in January on the popular dating app.

Antony Martin Frederick McCullough was sentenced to 120 hours community work after it was alleged he struck a woman ? who can?t be named for legal reasons ? just hours after meeting her on Tinder.

The case comes hard on the heels of the high-profile death of Kiwi woman Warriena Wright, 26, who fell 14 floors from her luxury Surfers Paradise apartment in August 2014.

Gable Tostee, 29, was arrested and charged with the woman?s alleged murder.

A trial date is yet to be set. Tostee has proclaimed his innocence in a series of bizarre posts on social media – with the latest stating he was a victim of “abuse and violence” on the night Wright died.

Despite being convicted, McCullough is also protesting his innocence.

According to police, after meeting the woman at the home of a friend they went to McCullough?s home where they engaged in consensual sexual intercourse. After sex, it is alleged that McCullough struck the woman a number of times in the face with his hand and then applied force to her in ?a general struggle?. ? Read more »

Warnie put your wanger away

The Shane Warne song by Kevin Bloody Wilson by Wilbert-thewicked

In contrast to Duncan Garner’s “research” Shane Warne is definitely on the pull on Tinder.

He has been named one of the cricketers of the century and Elizabeth Hurley was his sometime fianc?e, but Shane Warne still appears to be on a sticky wicket when it comes to romance.

The 45-year-old former Australian international has downloaded Tinder, a dating app popular among twentysomethings, but most women he messages do not believe he is really the famous cricketer.

?People say, ?Why are you trying to impersonate Shane Warne??? he told The Times. ?I go, ?OK, yeah, I am.? And then they go, ?No! It?s really you!? And you go, ?OK, it is.? And then they go, ?No, it?s not!? So I?m on there for the fun value.?

He said he was not ?trying to find the love of his life? through the app, but spoke of his loneliness at being ?very, very single?. ? Read more »

Sex industry competing with free sex

I’ve always felt that you should not pay for sex. ?I mean, with cash, EFTPOS or credit card. ?In the end, we all pay for sex in some way – marriage is especially costly, especially when the agreement ends.

But it seems the rise and rise of the Internet and smartphone dating apps is putting the boot into the sex industry as people are now hooking up for casual sex without having to whip out the wallet.

People are literally flipping it up for free.

Prostitutes are facing a shortage of clients, as the rapid rise of hook-up smartphone apps such as Tinder erode the market for paid sex.

New Zealand Prostitutes’ Collective national co-ordinator Catherine Healy said the most common complaint both here and globally was a lack of work.

In part, that was the result of the rise of online dating websites where people could find casual sex for free, she said.

“In the last 15 years, it feels like maybe the number of commercial sex encounters are in competition with those sites.”

Location-based apps such as Tinder and Grindr have also experienced enormous growth in recent years.

So what is a working girl (or boy) to do in such lean times? ? Read more »
