Tova O’Brien

Climate change refugees coming to NZ

This was the admission that Tova O’Brien was trying to get from Ardern in a recent interview.? She failed.

Ardern danced around on the head of a pin, as all politicians are wont to do but did not actually say the word.? Of course, there is a small problem with the concept.? There are no climate change refugees.? The ones who have tried this nonsense got their case thrown out by the court. Quote.

The Government is considering tweaking immigration settings to take climate change refugees.

Tova O’Brien political reporter

Today’s face of the day is Political reporter Tova O’Brien. She wrote an article to accompany the TV 3 News clip about one of the hottest political debates from 2014 and now 2015 also.

I have in the past simply read the article below clips like these as they tend to be fairly accurate representations of what is in the clip, right down to the quotes of what people in the video actually said. This time however one person who was asked a question in the video was totally left out of the written version though the other two people were not. I can guess why she did this and kudos to her for not misleading the public like the editor of the video clip did.

You may wonder why the third person was included in the clip but was not included in the written article?

The delusions of John Minto

The next big thing that Hone Harawira and John Minto has got going is Mana News.

And they are straight into bizarre conspiracy theories…and likely a few defamation suits.

Eleanor Catton has managed to reveal the mechanism of the National party media dictatorship this could be extremely dangerous for the survival of our democracy. According to Sean Plunkett you are not permitted to criticise the National?government its unpatriotic and against the people of New Zealand. ?Too many reporters within journalism have intimate relationships with the national party that are a conflict of interest designed to mislead the New Zealand public. These reporters are holding back real journalists like Andrea Vance.?It is unnatural for the press gallery to be uncritical of a seven year old government. The Prime minister office is pouring to many resources?into dirty politics and controling the media and little effort to tackle the housing crisis or poverty reduction.

The conspiracy would be more believable if they could spell Sean Plunket’s name properly. I’m surprised that they haven’t substituted every ‘s’ for a ‘$’.

The Greens only have one position – not yours

What does my head in is that there is no consistency to it. ?Russel Norman’s idea of opposition politics is to just be against everything. ?Of course, they wisely shut up in the weeks leading up to the election. ?Then it was all about green planets and lovely children and turtle doves.

But now that’s over, he’s back onto his normal plan: ?What can I be against today?

Tova O’Brien digs up an old story, that was already a non-story then, and sits it up long enough to give Russel Norman a bunch of sound bites. ?This is about something that happened over a month ago, and now Russel is…

OUTRAGED

Prime Minister John Key knew exactly what was coming in the election’s much-lauded ‘Moment of Truth’.

He?had prepared in advance.

“He’s given access to those documents in order to protect national security and then he chose to release them for the benefit of the National Party in the heat of an election campaign,” says Green Party co-leader Russel Norman.

When?journalist?Glenn Greenwald revealed?Project Speargun?? a plan by GCSB spies to tap?New Zealand’s?main data cable and suck up communications en masse ? the Prime Minister retaliated with spy documents of his own, showing Speargun was looked into but scrapped. Read more »

#HeyClint – The Full Video

Gareth Hughes has been shown up as a glove puppet. Patrick Gower has really done a number on him and also on Clinton Smith.

Green Party energy spokesperson Gareth Hughes had to ask his spin doctor Clint Smith for some advice while the cameras were rolling.

Political reporter Tova O’Brien asked Hughes whether the party was “pleased” about their power policy damaging the Government’s asset sales program.

He started answering, stopped, and then looked behind the camera: ‘Hey Clint! Are we pleased?’

Clint responded: ‘Well, it’s not why we did the policy… we don’t want the assets sold”? Read more »
