We Can

Susan Boyle more popular than Obama

Simon Cowell must be laughing all the way to the bank after overnight sensation ugly-duckling Susan Boyle has blown away all-comers on Youtube including Barack Obama, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin and George W. Bush vs the Shoes

Sure it is a great video but Cowell must have known all about her ability before she even got onto the stage. Nothing happens on that show without his stage managing it to the nth degree. This is Paul Potts all over again, a stitch up and this time using social media.

Still, Susan Coyle can sing, you don’t expect it and that makes a great story but I still think we are being had here. I say all power to Susan Coyle but lets have some honesty around the show.

He's dreamin'

Obama’s plan: Get rid of all nukesPresident Barack Obama last night launched a drive to rid the world of nuclear weapons. He said the United States, as the only country to have used nuclear bombs in warfare, had a moral responsibility to lead the campaign to abolish… [NZ Herald Politics]

I have always picked Obama as a fool and it seems everytime he opens his gob to recite something from the teleprompter in order to maintain the illusion he is a great orator he proves it.

He reckons we should get rid of all nukes. And in the immortal words of Darryl Keerigan “He’s Dreamin'”

You cannot un-invent something, you cannot unthink something. Once invented, once thought, once designed these things are out of Pandora’s Box never to return.

The man is a complete fool, leading the nation of fools that elected him. Great Orator my arse, the man is a gibbering idiot without his teleprompter.

Who to believe?

From Andrew Bolt;

Barack Obama:

Few challenges facing America and the world are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear.

100 scientists:

With all due respect Mr. President, that is not true.

We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated. Surface temperature changes over the past century have been episodic and modest and there has been no net global warming for over a decade now. After controlling for population growth and property values, there has been no increase in damages from severe weather-related events. The computer models forecasting rapid temperature change abjectly fail to explain recent climate behavior. Mr. President, your characterization of the scientific facts regarding climate change and the degree of certainty informing the scientific debate is simply incorrect.

Obama's honeymoon already over

Power Line – The Honeymoon: Still Over!

In The Honeymoon: Over Before It Began!, I noted that Islamic protesters in Indonesia were blaming Barack Obama for Israel’s attack on Gaza even though he hasn’t yet been inaugurated. This calls into question, as I put it in that post, liberals’ “touching faith that the election of Barack Obama will cause America to be better loved by people around the world, including those who are ideologically hostile to the United States.”

Here’s more evidence that the honeymoon is already over, this time from Iran. Note that Obama says he wants to change our relationship with Iran by treating it with more “respect.” Here, demonstrators in Tehran walk on a poster of Obama:

The great black hope of the liberal “progressives” will prove to be a massive failure. Already Islamist protesters the world over are burning Obama in effigy. Obama himself thinks that opeing dialogue with terrorists will be helpful. I have news for him, it will only be useful if those terrorists are sitting in chains as we interrogate them. As John at Powerline comments “The point, of course, is that if anyone thinks that electing Obama as President will cause us to be loved by our enemies, just because he isn’t George Bush, that person is doomed to disappointment.”

Joe the Plumber on the MSM

Joe the Plumber has gone to Israel to look into reporting on the Israeli’s war on terror group Hamas. he is less than impressed; perhaps he should look up Mark Crysell, the TVNZ coward sitting in Sderot, Israel all doled up in a flak jacket while Israeli citizens wander around him without protection.

Samuel Wurzelbacher of Ohio, aka Joe the Plumber, arrived in Sderot at noon Sunday to show local and foreign reporters how to do it right.

“You should be ashamed of yourself,” he told foreign reporters.

“You should be patriotic, protect your family and children, not report like you have been doing for the past two weeks since this war has started,” he said.

Wurzelbacher, the man who stole the limelight from Republican presidential candidate John McCain during the American election campaign, has found a new job – as a correspondent for the Internet Web sites PJTV and Pajamas Media.

Armed with a camera and a temporary Government Press Office card, he got a taste of reality in Sderot, visiting a house hit by a Kassam rocket two weeks ago and experiencing a “Code Red” alert first-hand. He also observed and reported from the house where a Kassam landed on Sunday afternoon.

The people of Sderot “can’t do normal things day to day,” like get soap in their eyes in the shower, for fear a rocket might come in, Wurzelbacher said. “I’m sure they’re taking quick showers. I know I would.”

He also wondered why Israel waited so long to act. “I know if I were a citizen here, I’d be damned upset.” He described himself as a “peaceloving man,” but added, “when someone hits me, I’m going to unload on the boy. And if the rest of the world doesn’t understand that, then I’m sorry.”

Wurzelbacher had already announced that he would arrive in the area for 10 days to cover Operation Cast Lead and to assist in getting out the Israeli side of the story.

“I want the average American Joes to understand the story here from the point of view of someone like them,” he told WNWO, a TV channel in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, before heading here.

During the election campaign, Wurzelbacher (who supported McCain) warned Jewish voters in America that voting for President-elect Barack Obama would be a death blow to Israel, saying, “Obama has offered to sit down with the enemies of Israel.”

But in Sderot, he seemed just as intent on teaching a thing or two to the media. “Do you think this is normal, the way you cover this conflict and give away information to your enemy?” he asked the journalists that gathered around him.

“It makes me sick to see the way you behave – you guys need to be protective of your homes, your children, your family.”

“I am angry,” he said, “and this is why I came here.”

I saw some pictures of Joe the Plumber in Sderot and he wasn’t wearing a flak jacket. He is right though, the mainstream media should be ashamed of themselves.

Observe, Orient, Decide, Act

Michael Barone at RealClearPolitics looks at the strategy John NcCain has used to blindside the Democrats.

John McCain was trained as a fighter pilot. In his selection of Sarah Palin, and in his convention and campaigning since, he has shown that he learned an important lesson from his fighter pilot days: He has gotten inside Barack Obama’s OODA loop.

That term was the invention of the great fighter pilot and military strategist John Boyd. It’s an acronym for Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.

“The key to victory is operating at a faster tempo than the enemy,” Boyd’s biographer Robert Coram writes. “The key thing to understand about Boyd’s version is not the mechanical cycle itself, but rather the need to execute the cycle in such a fashion as to get inside the mind and decision cycle of the adversary.”

Indeed, with the Palin selection McCain did precisely that. The Democrats and more importantly the media were rattled.

The McCain campaign shrewdly kept the information that she was on the short list and that she was the choice to a half-dozen people, who didn’t tell even their spouses. The Obama team failed to Observe.

The Obama team were genuinely surprised as were most of their media supporters.

Then they failed to Orient. Palin, as her convention and subsequent appearances have shown, powerfully reinforces two McCain themes: She is a maverick who has taken on the leaders of her own party (as Obama never has in Chicago), and she has a record on energy of favoring drilling and exploiting American resources. Instead of undermining these themes, they dismissed the choice as an attempt to appeal to female Hillary Clinton supporters or to religious conservatives.

A fatal error that most left-wingers fall into and one our own Helen Clark is falling into now. Instead of orienting their attacks on the real person they attack on their own “straw person” view of the opponent.

Then team Obama and its many backers in the media failed to Decide correctly, so when they Acted they got it wrong. Their attacks on Palin tended to ricochet and hit Obama. Is she inexperienced? Well, what has Obama ever run (besides his now floundering campaign)? Being a small-town mayor, as Palin said, is like being a community organizer, “except that you have actual responsibilities.”

Is she neglecting her family? Well, how often has Obama tucked his daughters in lately? For more than a week we’ve seen the No. 1 person on the Democratic ticket argue that he’s better prepared than the No. 2 person on the Republican ticket. That’s not a winning argument even if you win it. As veteran California Democrat Willie Brown says, “The Republicans are now on offense, and Democrats are on defense.”

Perhaps the Obama campaign strategists expected their many friends in the mainstream media to do their work for them. Certainly they tried. But their efforts have misfired, and the grenades they lobbed at Palin have ricocheted back and blown up in their faces. Voters are on to their game.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen finds that 68 percent believe “most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win” and that 51 percent — more than support McCain — believe the press is “trying to hurt” Sarah Palin. The press and the Democratic ticket are paying the price for decades of biased mainstream media coverage.

Thi is exactly the same for Helen Clark and Labour, they have decided that the election campaign is going to be nasty from National and so have preapred their own nasty campaign. They have acted upon it and boy didn’t Clark just look nasty on television last night? The problem is that National and John Key has got inside Labour’s OODA and aren’t playing that way. This will rattle Clark just as it has rattled Obama. Labour will be racting to National and the Democrats will be reacting to the Republicans.

Dear Mr Obama

A home made video letter to Barack Obama.

Obama gets a makeover

Faced with tanking poll ratings and a knife edge Electoral College; Barack Obama has decided to get a makeover.

Barack Obama gets a makeover

O'Reilly flays Obama

Barack Obama gets called to account about his associates. Why can’t we have interviewers like this in New Zealand.

Rasmussen shows the race all tied up:

In the first polling results based entirely on interviews conducted after Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech, Barack Obama gets 46% of the vote and so does John McCain. When “leaners” are included, it’s all even at 48%.

Zogby’s online poll shows McCain-Palin leading Obama-Biden 50 percent to 46 percent.

Gallup has McCain-Palin ahead by 3 points.

Oh dear, the Obama charade is going down.
