Swiss voters reject carbon tax by overwhelming 92%

It seems the Swiss are perhaps the most sensible people in Europe.

They certainly don’t appear to be infected with the cult of gaia, after overwhelmingly rejecting a carbon tax with 92% of the vote.

Swiss voters Sunday overwhelmingly rejected an initiative that would have scrapped the Alpine country?s value-added-tax system and replaced it with a carbon tax, a move that would have made gasoline, heating oil and other forms of power more expensive for consumers.

Roughly 92% of voters opposed the initiative, known as ?Energy Rather than VAT,? while 8% supported the measure, according to preliminary results from 13 of the country?s 26 cantons. ? Read more »

The mumbo jumbo of climate change

The Telegraph has a great article from Nigel Lawson dissing the “science” of climate change:

The IPCC?s call to phase out fossil fuels is economic nonsense and ‘morally outrageous? for the developing world.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which published on Friday the first instalment of its latest report, is a deeply discredited organisation. Presenting itself as the voice of science on this important issue, it is a politically motivated pressure group that brings the good name of science into disrepute.

Its previous report, in 2007, was so grotesquely flawed that the leading scientific body in the United States, the InterAcademy Council, decided that an investigation was warranted. The IAC duly reported in 2010, and concluded that there were ?significant shortcomings in each major step of [the] IPCC?s assessment process?, and that ?significant improvements? were needed. It also chastised the IPCC for claiming to have ?high confidence in some statements for which there is little evidence?.

Since then, little seems to have changed, and the latest report is flawed like its predecessor.? Read more »

Earth Hour – Lights still blazing at the Whale Cave

It is Earth Hour and the weirdos and media are all lapping it up. Meanwhile I have all the computers, stereo, lights, BBQ and TV running.

A series of public events to celebrate Earth Hour are being held around New Zealand tonight.

The global event encourages people to turn lights and electrical appliances off at 8.30PM as a way to raise awareness about environmental sustainability.

Earth Hour coordinator for the World Wildlife Fund, Rosa Argent, says in central Auckland a group of skaters, BMX riders and cyclists will take to the streets to raise awareness about litter and urban waste.

Hope they don’t run into anything or get run over with their lights off…nice to see the organisers advocating the breaking of road rules to prove their point.

North Koreans experience Earth hour all night, every day. Electricity should be celebrated not used in some pathetic meaningless stunt about global warming.

10:10 killing "denier" kids video gets pulled

The eco-terrorists at 10:10 are trying to erase the memory of their vile video where “deniers” are killed off, no pressure mind, they have pulled the video from Youtube and their website. It’s almost as though they are trying to erase the video, like they erased the mediaeval warming period.

Unfortunately for them copies were made and are still freely available on Youtube and other video sites so they can be held accountable for their actions.

I’m starting also to wonder whether or not Richard Curtis has performed a masterful reverse sting on 10:10 by agreeing to produce a video for them and then making it so hideous that it backfires on them. The eco-terrorists of course were unable to see why the video was so appalling and so published it thereby activating the sting.

James Delingpole comments on his blog;

What?s fascinating, reading this kind of thing, is seeing just how far removed from reality the green movement has gone. Kyoto is dead. Copenhagen was a flop. Cancun is going to make a mockery of all those green dreams about global carbon emissions legislation. And how do the environmentalists respond?

By force of argument?

By presenting new evidence which supports their cause?

Nope.

By threatening to blow up anyone who disagrees with them.

And not just that: they believe this is actually an entirely reasonable and rather amusing position to adopt.

This isn?t, of course, the first time green propagandists have inadvertently revealed the murderous misanthropy which lurks behind their cloak of ecological righteousness.

Greenpeace made this nasty one two years ago:

And let?s not forget this little charmer produced last year by those?cuddly, panda-hugging souls at the World Wildlife Fund.

But with this new monstrosity, truly the great Richard Curtis has excelled himself. It?s so bad, it makes his previous shimmering masterpieces of emetica ? Love Actually, The Girl In The Cafe, The Boat That Rocked ? look like Battleship Potemkin. It makes the Vicar of Dibley look like a collaboration between Oscar Wilde and Shakespeare. It?s so deliciously, unspeakably, magnificently bleeding awful it makes you wish that the man could be given a ticker tape parade in every major capital city, in gratitude for the devastating damage he has (unwittingly) wrought on the eco-fascist cause.
